Thanks for the replies. Sorry that I'm not familiar with modern scanner/jargon. I've been a scanner listener for over 30 years. Just never kept up with the changes and forget about todays technical stuff! LOL!

Still just using an old Bearcat BC-760XLT and a Realistic PRO-2004, both with rooftop antennas. It may be stone-age, but it still works for my needs (fire/ems).

Your question to sybex is relative to a 2004 posting of his, things have changed in the past 6 yrs and many of those channels are in-use but are now P25 :wink:

Yes typically frequencies will get posted as

Frequency to listen to followed by the PL/DPL/NAC

As ecps92 mentioned these are now P25 digital. I've heard both encrypted and in the clear communications. More activity on FBI channels then on Secret Service Newark - whom I've only heard a handful of times. They are most active during the work day and I'm...well busy working and not listening to be able to provide a better update!

Database should be up to date with current freqs and NACs.

Hi guys I dont use my scanner very often (usually monitor HF) but I live here in atlantic county right outside of Atlantic City and Im getting some chatter on 168.975 Which I had as freq for Newark FBI they are being very discrete I have only been listening in for an hour. Its P25:167 I have a pro106. Could it be Newark reaching South Jersey cause its getting colder out? Or do you guys think they have a car down here searching. Hope to get some of you smart guys to help on this. Should I scan other parts of the 168meg area? If so what freqs? Im gonna keep it on here for now. Do we have rules for posting the content of any of these transmissions not like opsec right lol?

Yes, that is correct. It's an FBI channel that's linked out of the Newark office. My guess is the repeater is somewhere near the Buena Vista area. And yes, I heard some chatter a few weeks ago on it about an investigation that I'll keep my lips sealed on. If you were interested, there's a thread called "South Jersey Feds" I believe that has some other freq's described on it that may be of help to you (and help identifying some for the database) if you get a chance to.

federal protective service for nj and ny seems to have made the switch now to 408.200 using nac 270 in apco25 digital mode as of today.

During a recent search, I've noticed that the FBI Newark office has another repeater 170.8125 $167 in use, performing a radio check in the 0900 hour time span. Can anyone else up in that area verify this for us?

Added to this are a few new channels linked together; unknown if they are possible inputs/outputs or images:
167.2625 $167 169.8875 $167 167.5125 $167 all linked with 173.1375 $167 (B-1?)

Also in use, but unknown what agency was in the Central NJ area:

163.6500 $024 simplex - mostly encrypted
164.3125 94.8 simplex - picking up materials at Middlesex County College
169.6000 $169 repeater - all encrypted so far

I've picked up that 169.600 channel as well. I could never ID it either.

Maybe I can help..lol Today I picked up a few transmissions on some of the 168.000 freq's could have be FBI,DEA,SS, or simply NYPD...I say this because they were tailing somebody in Manhattan!!! This is the greatist form on the planet...LOL!!!!

Yes in P25 mode, but this was Analog CTCSS.

Could still be USCG But not NET/CG 115

The FBI does Disp in many areas for the USM and for joint ops here in New England we have noticed a few channels with multi-NAC tones.

I've heard N207 and N167 on that 167.4375
