Majority of ny/nj activity this weekend seemed to be on 162.325. Only bad thing was it was encrypted 100%. Very active though. Didnt hear much on 164.9125, is this still being used around the NJ area?? I saw the other post in nj forum that said they are using 164.300 now down in manasquan area.

If anyone has coast guard updates around NJ area please let us know.

I haven't heard anything on 164.9125 for about a year and half now. I believe everything in Sector New York has switched to 162.325.

I can confirm that Station Manasquan does use 164.300 $293.
I hear them all the time up here in Milford. Ct.
Sector Deleware Bay also uses it.
Yes Sector NY is on 162.325. I have only heard them in the clear a handful of times. Just enough to confirm that it is them. Also, I hear Station Point Judith (RI) on that .325

How about the old simplex frequency that NY used to use.
163.175
Anything heard on that one lately by anyone?

Oh boy, I just realized this is the NJ forum!
Hope I am somewhat on topic- NJ listeners can possibly hear some of this stuff too :))

thanks for the reply Bob. I have not heard anything at 163.175 in a long time. I will keep an ear out though. I will be in northern New Jersey much more during the summer months once my grandkids are out of school.

I believe I picked up a few simplex transmissions on 164.5625 also down along the Hudson River this weekend. May have been some of the patrol boats that were out there.

I appreciate the info on delaware bay sector as well, as that is closest to my home.

Down in the Belmar/Lake Como area, I'm observing some conversation on 171.6250 R $4F9. I can't seem to find them listed in the database in any of the surrounding states, as well as NJ. Mostly 200 units of some type always talking...

New Liberty/Ellis Island NM freq.

For those who like to monitor the NPS at Liberty/Ellis Island (NJ/NY), looks like we have another freq. in use: 169.9875 R $4F9 (I/P 162.1625). Update notes, and radios, where applicable. I will send in a notification to the database once I confirm the usage further.

Picked up TSA at newark airport using 168.9625/N002 this morning. Discussions seemed to be about the new full body scanners and TSA Agents calling out suspicious items on people being scanned.

YMMV - but I have found multiple Freqs/PL and NAC at other airports.
Each Terminal and Scanner had it's own Freq and Tone, so there could be more. Been a long time since I went thru Newarks.

Yes, that is the newer Liberty Island/Ellis Island Ops channel repeater. It replaced the 166.6375 channel about six months ago. Input is in the 162.xxx range.

Seems like Federal protective services has gone fully coded now on their 408.200 repeater (nac 290). the encryption was used very infrequently in the past but now seems to be in use full time pretty much.
