Anyone notice Troop B North simulcast channel 860.4625 channel stuck on the air? Beeping or chirping a single 1000 hz tone every 10 seconds for some time now.
That would be local site trunking....Must have lost connection to the core or they are doing some pre-testing before 9/27 date.

I’m sure others have heard it, but some of the frequencies on Troop B are in failsoft. Pretty cool to hear that. First for me, in my relatively short few years of scanning. History in the making.

Years ago that was a common occurrence. Then the REMU TG would light up with chatter and it would get fixed.

I took a look at Site 12 with Troop C with UT. It is fully intact with 6 channels carrying voice traffic. No changes.

This would infer that Site 11, North will be the first to go with C remaining on the air.

All three simulcast cells are down from their original 12 channels. NJICS sites in the north were some of the first to expand with 800 MHz channels from B11D, which is why that cell has less channels now. So yes, there have been recent changes to all cells including central.

Site 12 is simply busier as it has to carry some north and south traffic, in addition to central. That's why they left more channels intact.

I spent a few days with this system on autopilot. I was curious as to the reality of the rumor about a September shut down.

I found 953 users. Numerous agencies also remain active.

The UID 65520 reflects common link to 700 ICS with most hits (2,518) across many TG’s.

Rough numbers. 30-40 users w 12-50 hits, a few dozen users w 50-400 hits of which some are console positions.

I would be surprised if a September shutdown happens. We shall see.

It was never stated that the 4.1 system would be completely shut down next week. Sept 27 is the target date for the ASTRO 25 system (aka NJICS) to cut over to a new core. The 4.1 system will be around for a bit longer while stragglers continue to cut over to the ASTRO 25 system, with drastically reduced channel capacity as we're already seeing.

The date is Tuesday the 27th. I work for the state, I got the email on Thursday that on Tuesday between 10a-1p the upgrade would occur with the Motorola system (We use the NJICS System) so it could be down between then. I talked to my buddy that works in the radio shop, and he said the upgrade/enhancement is pretty instant once it happens. The 10a-1p is just the window they say.

NJICS will not be down. It will though be in site trunking mode. Those on the same ASR or on a simulcast cell will be able to talk to each other. For some local agencies, that may not even be an issue if they all affiliate on the same cell and their dispatch has a control station also on the same cell (since their consoles will go down). Its the agencies that are more statewide and require the use of multiple simulcast cells to converse.
Consoles need to also be upgraded from the older WIN7 PC's to WIN10 to be able to use the 20.20 core.

So there will still be a 4.1 but instead of 7.X, they will move to 20.20. At some point though, and its already been mentioned, the remaining 4.1 users will migrate and then the date could be set for a 4.1 shutdown.

2020.1 (possibly 2021.1) will be the ASTRO 25 system release for the new core. The current core is still at 7.14, which is quite old.

I would say this is more along the lines of what is planned. Don’t be surprised to see some channels disappear to the ASTRO 25 system

a friend just text me the system will be shut down for good at 10.30 am
Perhaps your friend didn't read the thread here. I am listening right now to 800 right now and its still up and purring along. The intent this morning was to only upgrade 700 to the new core as well as the dispatch consoles. 800 was not being touched.
