I now have a great signal for S V R C . I adjusted the DSP in the settings and I found a location on my couch so it can pick up a signal and hold on to it .I was told that the p25 systems were sensitive because if I move it an inch it will lose the signal . But that's ok I'm happy thank you for your help.

The external antenna sounds good. I also found one on line that is for 800 MHz and 700MHz and the system that I'm is coming in and out is in the 700 MHz range. It's a digital p25 system.

The Radio Shack "800 MHz antenna" also works fine on 700 MHz, and even fairly well at UHF and is passable at VHF.

I am now able to receive both Santa Clara and sunnyvale. The only thing is that this new system is very sensitive. I only get a signal in certain locations in my house if I move only an inch I'll lose it but with a little patience I'll get it . I looking into a different antennae to see if that would help.

I used my PSR-800 with the stock antenna and BCD 436HP on the SVRCS this last weekend while I was there for the 49ers game. Both radios worked good on the system. I was staying on the 5th floor in downtown San Jose and was still picking it up good. The 800 is nice since you can run it off an iPad or iPod walwart.

I use the SpectrumForce 700mhz sma antenna. obviously you'd have to get an adapter for the GRE. I find it better than the radioshack 800mhz one.

The funny thing is when I left my house the signal was great I had no problems getting a signal. Its when I'm home that its hard to find. And also the spots seem to change from day to day.
For the spectrum force antannae I found them on scanner masters web site but were would I find an adapter
Scanner Master also has the GRE super amp, has any one ever tried one of these be for ?

Okay, what am I missing here?
After following the supplied instructions with my new WS1080 I can only pick up the old analog 482.962 frequency for Sunnyvale PD.
I've gone through the menu entering state, county, city, PD & Fire but it's the old frequency.
Do I need to program or select the P25 system somewhere from the menu?
Do I need to manually enter the 700 mh frequencies?
What is this EZscan software I've heard mentioned? is there supposed to be a dick included with this new scanner? I did not get any disk

I've successfully saved 527 frequencies to my scan list but none that I'm interested in listening to.
I only need 2 channels, how hard can it be?

Find browse library. Go to Santa Clara county and then systems this is were you should find Silicon Valley regional communications systems. The new sunnyvale system will be found here. If SVRCS is not found your 1080 will need the library updated though the EZ scan software. You download the software from whistlers web site.
Good luck and don't worry I feel your pain.
And also the EZ scan only works on a PC.

So I found the SVRCS, can you tell me how to isolate just Sunnyvale PD/Fire and eliminate all others like SCCO Sheriff that are included in that selection?
Also there is some odd UHF channel that it picks up that is solid radio noise/humm, very annoying

Thanks again

I do not see sccso or the UHF in the SVRCS section. But to only get sunnyvale just check the boxes for the city you want.

Sherrif's office is not yet on the new system. They are still on their VHF conventional system. What is the frequency that you are picking up the noise on?

Keep playing around you will get used to it after a while. At first I had a really hard time but became accustomed with the unit with some practice. And for the EZ scan I did not think it was that EZ but then again I'm also not the most computer literate guy on the block. I have only used it so far to update the library and firmware. I have done all programming from the 1080s SD card.
