New to this . . . .what is the "rahr . . .rahr . . .rahr noise ???? What is causing it ?? What can I do to stop it (other than lockout )

SDS200, any channel, any frequency. Occasionally it will lock on a frequency, and all there is "rawr . . .rawr . . . .rawr . . . ." repeating.

If it's on every frequency, then it's something local to your radio. Try shutting off computer power supplies, USB adapters, cable/DSL modems, etc. If that does not fix it, go to your home's circuit breaker panel and shut off one circuit breaker at a time and see if one of them stops the noise. Then narrow down the culprit from there. If the circuit breaker trick does not help you narrow it down, it may be from a neighbor.
Have you checked out who could be using that frequency in your area that you could pickup, if it's not a frequency that is active in your area then just lock it out.

Perhaps it's the zoo radio channel and the lion is nearby. Sorry.
Are you near any radio / TV / cellphone towers? Since it is appearing on any frequency / channel, perhaps your scanner is being overloaded by a powerful nearby signal.

Are you picking up a pager from nearby?
You know you can catch a recording in your device and post it here, that might get you a more specific answer.
I don't know where it is specifically, but there's several sites that have samples of some of the things you can hear on a radio, perhaps someone could find that site.. Might find the exact answer.

Sounds like some sort of interference. Can you move the SDS200 to some other place and see if it changes? Also, turn off your "close call".
You might want to try different settings on the global filter to see if that helps any. Once we can get this narrowed down, someone should be able to suggest the best solution for the problem.
