Hello,

I recently bought a brand new 436 off of Amazon and I noticed it shipped with a generic "ADATA" 4GB SD card. I suppose Uniden has discontinued using the higher SanDisk SD cards that the scanners originally shipped with. Maybe they are trying to save a couple bucks?

Thoughts on this?

While SanDisk is the top of the line, insofar as using SD cards goes, if it's a legitimate SD card (yes, there are fake SD cards), the scanner doesn't care. But regardless of brand, it should have a high endurance rating, because the SD card has to endure some extremes, climate wise, such as when the scanner gets toasty warm from constant usage.

I also think it also sounds like you got a used/returned/refurb unit. Same thing happened to me when I bought a "new" TRX-1 from Amazon. It would only run off of corded power, but not batteries. On closer inspection it had some one-off memory card in it. I kept it for a few days then returned it and bought a Uniden. I felt taking that rubber case off of the TRX-1 to change batteries would have been living hell.

My unit was pretty new and in box from Amazon. Not a third party. I found it very weird but it's always good to check, my guess is that it is a return

I recently pulled my hair out with the SDS200 giving me a SD Card Error when trying to create new sd favourite listings.. Didn't see the key requirement until I was balding.. format the disk as FAT32... soon as I did this I could use different brands & size without any issues...
