17:40 - Woodlawn Shopping Center in FCPD Station 2 (Mt. Vernon) - Hop in stolen Dodge Challenger. Victim saw a Black male get in his car and drive away. Car wasn't on and the vic doesn't know how he started it. No direction of travel. Units checking the area.

17:52 - 6700 bl. Columbia Pike in FCPD Station 4 (Mason) - Employee of a business was trying to kill himself with a knife and a coworker wrestled the knife away! Initially it was reported that the coworker had been stabbed but that wasn't true in the end. Sounds like no one is seriously hurt.

10:44 - Mason (FCPD Station 4) - Male threatening his parents with a gun. Units arrived on scene and had the other occupants of the house come outside, then contacted the subject via phone. Unclear what happened; Car 4B simply told dispatch "everyone is accounted for" and "to break this down." Channel was then cleared. Odd.

11:42 - Wahoo Way in Alexandria - Critical worksite injury. Worker fell around 12 feet and sustained major head injuries. Worker was unconscious and had to be rescued from an elevated position. Fairfax 1 responded to medevac from Hybla Valley ES parking lot. He was flown to hospital in critical condition.

Slightly delayed. 14:40 at a townhouse complex near Lake Anne in Reston - 2 Alarms were called following what was possibly a gas explosion. DC divided response into three divisions plus the EMS group to search the 4-story structure and fight what turned out to be a very smoky but not very large fire. No one seems to have been home.

20:30 - Manassas (PWCPD Central District) - Homicide shooting. Units responded for the shooting and found a female with two wounds to the head. Sounds like maybe an execution style shooting.

Earlier today in Franconia - Patrol units responded to a suspicious person in a parking lot. Vehicle turned out to be stolen and they requested ACE. While ACE was responding to set up on the car, plainclothes Opioid Investigations detectives came over the radio and apparently had been surveilling the subject patrol had responded on and had finally noticed the cruisers. They waited for the subject and his girlfriend to come out and busted the girl at the scene. Main suspect ran but the detectives caught him after a brief foot pursuit.

11:36 - Leesburg Pike and Towncenter Plaza in Sterling (Loudoun County) - Call went out for pedestrian struck. Victim was unconscious when units arrived on scene was transported with CPR in progress. Have not heard an update on condition. Deputies investigating discovered the victim was actually the owner of the car; a suspect hopped in and stole the car, threw the victim out of it, and struck her. Deputies got footage of the vehicle with partial tag and of the driver soon after arriving on scene and requested assistance from Fairfax 1 and VSP. 20 minutes later, the vehicle hit another vehicle in Sterling and fled that scene as well. Several more people reported a vehicle matching the description driving recklessly in the area. Units were able to locate it soon after and took the suspect into custody without further incident.

Loudoun County, VA (July 28, 2024): The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) is investigating a fatal carjacking incident that occurred this afternoon in Sterling.

At approximately 11:39 a.m., deputies responded to the 21000 block of Towncenter Plaza for a report of a carjacking. The victim and owner, Melody Waldecker, 54, of Silver Spring, Maryland was struck by the vehicle as the suspect fled the scene and was pronounced dead.

A suspect has been arrested, and there are no ongoing threats to the community. This is an active investigation and additional criminal charges are forthcoming.

Loudoun has a working fire at the trailer park in Lucketts, Demory Terrace. Units still arriving.

In other news, August 7 is the date for the push-in ceremony for the new TT620, a 2024 Pierce.

Loudoun units are on scene at Cuisine Solutions in Sterling/Dulles for a hazmat (ammonia leak) mass casualty incident. Additional units now being dispatched including some from Fairfax. At least 13 people being classified as yellow tags, as many as 25 possible patients.

Ops will be on 6H Tac 21. 6C Command 10 for command, 6E Tac 12 for the medical group
Hazmat group on 6I Tac 22

This building has much as 20,000lbs of ammonia, probably for refrigeration.

2106- About 50 green patients, so requesting buses for transport.

Any patient count transported to Loudoun area hospitals? Openmhz is down for Loudoun. I did get a total so far of 10 yellow tags and one red tag to Reston Hospital on 49 Echo.

Anyone know if there was radio traffic related to what LoudounNow is reporting as "FBI and Leesburg Police activity" at Bear's Den? I listened to OpenMHZ archives but couldn't find anything related, assuming it was on encrypted channels but just wondering. I did hear traffic for a SAR op near Bear's Den at the same time, dunno if it's related.

Loudoun units are still on scene of a house fire on Shannondale Road west of Hillsboro. A bit before 5pm a lightning strike started the fire. Because it's a rural area there are no regular hydrants. Numerous tankers were dispatched, fill sites at two dry hydrant locations. At 5:38 units were ordered to evacuate the structure due to impending roof collapse.

Leesburg's new tiller truck is officially in-service tonight. A push-in ceremony was held at 5pm.

On my way home I heard Mr. Pumphrey himself checkin with Loudoun to announce it in service. :)

Anybody in the market for the 'old' 2019 Pierce tiller?

LCSO just sent out an alert for a "critical community incident" in Middleburg. OpenMHZ and Broadcastify have both been down for Loudoun for over a week, unsure why. OpenMHZ has partial coverage now and sounds like whatever is going on is at a school. Units talking about clearing the building and parents arriving, didn't hear anything about victims or suspects and there's no FD command that I can see. OpenMHZ wasn't working whenever the incident started. Maybe a phone threat or a quickly-neutralized active threat?

Update - OpenMHZ has now loaded earlier calls. LCSO was dispatched at 9:48 for person with gun calls at The Hill School. School went into lockdown and a large response was initiated. Units arrived to find the school locked down and no apparent threats. Deputies eventually figured out that someone phoned in a threat to the school saying they were en route to the school with a gun, sending the school into lockdown. 911 then determined that the first call they got was from an "anonymous restricted number."

Of note, Commander 4 ordered the first unit on scene to make entry without waiting for backup after the unit said he was going to wait for more units.

Update 2 - 1100 - All students and staff accounted for.
