My daughter purchased a Whistler WS1065 for her. We live in a rural area and want to simply be able to hear abount emergencies in oiur area.

Since then I have spent a ton of money just trying to get it programed and going. I have a Macbook that I had to get special software for so I could have the Windows that was required. I then purchased ACO500 Pro to be able to get the programing from RadioReference . After two or three days and to much money spent later I still dont have her scanner programmed.

I have the frequencies down loaded in ACO 500, but it will not upload them to the scanner. It keeps telling me that I have a communication error and wants me to select the proper USB and gives me about 100 choices. There are only two on the computer. I have checked and all are working ok, I have shut down everything and rebooted. Can someone please help me

To use software to program the scanner, you must also have the driver installed for the USB port where you connect the cable to your Mac and to the scanner. The driver can be found here:

I do not have a Macbook, but from comments I've seen elsewhere, you also make sure that when you are using Windows, that the USB port is correctly linked for use when in a Windows session. There have been several threads along this line, including this one. There is also a page with some details on ScannerMaster's site: Mac Users of Police Scanner Radios | ScannerMaster.com

While this thread is regarding issues with programming Uniden scanners via a Mac, much of what is in it would apply also for Whistler scanner models. Look at post 7, and the one following it, regarding USB ports.

Past this, I will defer to those that do successfully use a Macbook for programming. There is no software for using a Mac other than using software to emulate a Windows session. No software specifically for use without creating a Windows session in your Mac.

I assume that is ARC500 Pro. You need to download and run the CDM20830_Setup.exe cable driver installer in hiegtx's Whistler link above. Do you want the scanner programmed for the Crawfordsville area?

I have an ARC500 file with the talkgroups for Montgomery County on the Indiana Project Hoosier SAFE-T trunked system. Give it a try. First, you need to install the cable driver. Save the attached zipped file to your computer and extract. Open the extracted file with ARC500. Connect the cable from your computer to the PC/IF jack on the scanner. Go to the Scanner tab and click on Upload to Scanner. Scan lists as follows:

SCAN LISTS:
1. MontCo Interop
2. MontCo Emerg Ops
3. MontCo Fire
4. MontCo Sheriff
5. Crawfordsvl Fire
6. Crawfordsvl PD
7. IN State Police
