Something about MSN, strange things, wondering why it said download complete after two seconds, and later unplug everything from the radio, and would not power up, call Uniden Tech support, where he told to download the program using I.E which that took about 2-3 mins of downloading., I did, so now i got firmware 09 installed on the radio, see how that goes...Thanks anyway..

Bell Fleetnet system in Southern Ontario

I am trying to program a 396T, with 1.9 firmware, to listen to this system with no luck.

The system is a Motorola Smartzone II with both ananlog and digital talkgroups in the VHF range.

I have tried to put in the frequencies conentionally and they work and decode fine but when I program it as a trunked system I hear nothing. I have tried several different types of trunking and still no luck.

Has anybody got a 396T working on this system?

Any thoughts?

Thanks for any help.

Have you enter any Base/Offset settings? What system is this?

EDIT: nevermind, I noticed what system is this.

EDIT: It looks like this system uses 3 sets of Base/Offsets values, have you entered those in the setup?

I notice references to programming the 396T to a Motorola Type II system. How, specifically, do you program a Type II system?????? I find nothing in the radio, or the manual, that speaks to a Type II system.

I think there is a UASD file on the BCD396T Yahoo Group.

Program it as Motorola 800MHz Type 2 Standard, Motorola 800MHz Type 2 Splinter, Motorola 900MHz Type 2, Motorola UHF or Motorola VHF, depending on which system it is.

First of all, post your question in the Eastern Canada forum. Lot's of people there with 396's who are already listening to the Fleetnet system.

Secondly, before you post that message, check the sticky located at the top of the forum. It gives detailed instructions for setting that particular system up on the older Uniden digital models but the 396 isn't that different.

At some point, I'll put together a FAQ for the 396 as well.

PM me if you've got any questions. I don't check this thread very often. Takes too long to go through. I'd prefer it be killed off and people can start posting new topics with subject lines that give us a clue as to what the topic is about.

Preprogrammed Freqs in 396T

I have seen ads saying that 400 trunking setups are already programmed in the 396 but I can't seem to find out what they are. Uniden won't even answer an email about it. Can any body help me.

Thanks
John

The back of the manual lists all the preprogrammed systems. You can download the pdf version if you don't have one.

Uniden seems to b keeping the Owner's manual secret for the 396T. I can't find it on their web site. The only thing I can find is a firmware update. I won't need that if I don't buy a scanner because I can't get a look at the manual.

To the left of where you click to get to the software is the big link for the manual:
