Tonight I decided to put together a quick basic operations video. It's by no means up to par with UPMans videos but it gives you an idea from a regular users who is proficient with the XT and HP-1 scanners. Hope it gives some of you a better idea of the operations. I'm sure I made mistakes in the terms and operations, LOL. I'm learning something new each day. I will make another one this weekend.

Video failed to upload. Trying again.

Ok, Video is up. I'll leave it for a week or so.

Thank you wise871. I fill these videos are even more helpful to me then probably some people seeing how I am coming off an older BC246t. I'm just a few versions behind. :)

So as not to stray off topic, after reading some of the "hardware vs. software" posts in this thread I opened up a new one in the SDR forum for discussion, not to argue which is better, but to offer my thoughts on the hopes of maybe making it easier for "end-users" to be able to learn how to implement GNURadio and OP25. It's great to hear how well it works, but so few know how to implement it. I'm among them.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean. There is no "big secret". Uniden has them coming in to them, to go to the distributor, to go to the different retailers that will sell them to customers (that'd be people like you and I).

Otherwise I'm not sure what's up with your tone ("specific dare"??)...but welcome to the site. We try to be cordial, polite, and considerate here. Maybe I misread your post?

Its just a marketing game to hype up the radios. Thats it. Uniden has hundreds of 48 ft shipping containers full of these new units sitting in their where houses somewhere just waiting to ship.

Its no mystery whats so ever. They have plenty of radios to ship to everyone that wants one. They have been planning this for years now and they have their slave labor over in China or Tawiian making more as I speak.

People will just get their radios in the order that it was received.

Date, it was a typo. Just seems, based on reading posts, there is no definitive date and just a lot of sp eculation as to when product will be shipped. Blunt question, but not less than cordial. Not sure why they can't say on X date we will be shipping to distributors. Sorry if you took it the wrong way.

They probably could of gave a date. Based on what I have read I think they wanted to get it out as soon as possible and didn't want to be holding a finished product awaiting release date in addition didn't want to have a release date and have it not be ready. It seems to have a lot of features and I am sure it's tough to give a specific date and be confident all features will be working 100% unless they put a release date so far in the future they were positive it would be done. I think it's a case of not wanting to disappoint customers when they were expecting it. Kinda like Walmart of black Friday. People be getting all upset in the house! Just my opinion

I think the typo threw me off.

UPMan (Uniden's Project Manager that is on these forums) has said several times they should be shipping them to distributors on or around the 15th (depended on when they arrived from overseas). That date has come and that is what is happening. No secret. No craziness as some others might suggest (in posts above this one).

Manufacturing and shipping a product is not magic - it takes time and a lot of factors play into it, including how quickly a cargo vessel can make it across the ocean. The reason it seems so unknown or crazy is: 1) people have posted false dates as if they knew when they did not, and 2) Uniden announced the product several months ago and the anticipation has built up so strongly for some people that their impatience flows over into the threads and they jump on any glimmer of hope of getting it earlier than expected or realistic (such as when people like in my first reason post false information).

I think Uniden/Upman has been pretty candid on dates ever since the November product announcement.

He said the 436's should get in the US distribution system around the thrid week of January.

He also said the 536's would be around the first week of January, but later said he misread the shipping docouments and the 536's would take a little longer to show up.

There's actually a blessing to be found with the "longer than orginally thought" delivery time. Some of the administrators have gotten 536's as you may have seen from other posts. This "sneek peak" has led to the discovery of a need for a firmware update.

At any rate, it won't be as long as it has been.

Care to share the source of your "information?"

First failure - the 536 is made in Vietnam, so much for your China/Taiwan theory.

Second failure - 48 ft shipping containers are rarely, if ever, kept in warehouses, as they are needed back in the shipping supply chain too rapidly.

Third failure - I seriously doubt that Uniden started planning for this product launch years ago - more likely they were working on the launch of the then current products.

Fourth failure - I am 100% certain that had Uniden given a hard date that you could see one of these sitting in a retailer and missed that date by so much as one day, those of your ilk would have been calling them liars and cheats.

Ultimately, since your "information" as to where these are actually made is bogus, the rest of your protestations are merely transparent attempts at sullying the reputation of what is actually one of the greatest, most innovative consumer electronics companies in the world today. Whistler employee, perchance?

And no, I am NOT a Uniden employee - just an intelligent, informed consumer.

Tired of the blatant FUD being thrown around in here.

You forgot one of the most critical factors... CUSTOMS. Asking for when exactly the government will have a task done is like asking when exactly the rain will start falling next week.

We are seeing what is happening here when a GENERAL WEEK was posted, and though that week isn't finished and a delay was encountered, there are folks here all too willing to rake people over the coals for not meeting a deadline which isn't even here yet. Can you imagine the outrage over missing a specific day should customs not clear the shipment as fast as you would hope?
