Only with the GPS right? If so then I give it a big fat :roll: If not then its about time they get it rightrdale said:As mentioned above, the 996 will allow that.
DaveIN said:If you read the description in the WIKI it says the same port that the 246/396/330/230 has for the front and a DB-9 pin serial for the rear.
What would be great for the front connector would be a clone feature to be able to get any system file from or to any of those current model handhelds. If the code was written correctly that could be done. Then if you were on the road and wanted to send a system to the handheld you wouldn't need a PC to do so.
GPS port will be the DB-9 on the back I see.
And just like the BC795/796D the Software will be free. UASD compatable, so the system files that are already available with the handhelds should work. Very nice!
Here we go already :roll: Sorry Mike but have you even tried reading anything in this thread or the wiki page yet?Mike445 said:I have a few questions. Will this radio will do 700MHz trunking and control channel trunking (for VHF and UHF)? Are the frequency steps are changable so the radio will be useful now and after rebanding? Thanks!

LOL I have been working on reading that thing all day long. Everytime I get started I have to turn around for something else and then forget about itrdale said:"Only with the GPS right?"
No, if you read the Wiki page you'll see multi-towers have been addressed.
Could be for the Emergency Alert, Channel Alert, or Close Call Alert.DaveIN said:On the WIKI photoshop picture I see a green alert LED on the faceplate.
I just noticed this "Either port can be configured to be PC interface or GPS interface."tennesseefreq said:I Just noticed the wiki has a nice prelim front view of the scanner. I hope that's not where they plan to put the computer port! It does look usb though.

DaveIN said:Not the green "Alert" LED, The red LED. See the CC (close call) symbol.
Non-Radio Location-Based Features (GPS)
There are non-radio type systems that hold other location based information:
* Dangerous Xing: Stores location, range, direction of travel. If you are within range, traveling in the specified direction, you receive an alert.
* Dangerous Road: Stores location, range, speed. If you are traveling at a speed greater than the one specified, and are within the range of the specified location, you receive an alert.
* Points of Interest: Stores location and range. If you approach the specified location, you receive an alert.
In general, a location alert can have:
* Latitude
* Longitude
* Speed (optional)
* Alpha (optional)
* Alert Type and Level (optional)
* Vector (optional)
* Heading
Alerts are based on:
* Speed setting > 0 and no vector entered, non-directional speed alert
* Speed setting > 0 and a vector is entered, directional speed alert
* Speed = 0 and vector is entered, dangerous intersection alert
* Speed = 0 and no vector entered, point-of-interest alert
The user can quickly save a location by pressing GPS. Scanner prompts for the type of location to store (Speed, Intersection, or POI)
I don't think both would be too much to ask for.DaveIN said:I would like a drop down stand rather than a mounting bracket with rubber bump feet. Will the stand return?
