My pops has one and his takes a good full two seconds to scan a system with about 12 channels and other second and a half for another with about 8 channels. Then on to the trunked system before it comes back to the first. For a total round trip of around four seconds. He is missing alot of traffic because it scans really slow. Your not the only one who has slow scanning.

Make sure the hold time on your systems is set to "0" seconds. The hold time is the amount of time the scanner sits in that system, rescanning the same channels or talkgroups, before moving to the next one. So a two second hold time would make it appear to take two seconds to scan 10 or twelve channels. The delay time for a given system is how long the scanner will wait for an answer on a given frequency (or talkgroup), before it resumes scanning.

The scanner's default time for a new system is a two second hold time, & a two second delay. So if you did not reset these initially, you've got a lot of hold times slowing things down.

I found this NMEA outputting GPS reciever online:

Would this work with the BCT-15? I guess it would need some way of getting power and the USB converted to serial.

Could be cheaper than using a standard reciever
I found one that is 12-volt and plugs right into the back of the BCT15 haven't tried it yet does anyone know if this is the right one.

What is giving that error?

It sounds like you've tried to program more than 250 TGID's into one system, but I don't recognize that error message (well, I don't recall the last time I exceeded the limit, but am pretty sure neither the scanner nor UASD will report the error as above).
