Does anyone know if the Holland Twp. Site is active? I used to have a good signal here in Warren County on the old system, but I'm not getting a thing on the new one. I should be close enough to Holland Twp. to receive it, unless it is directional.

Twista,
I tried to msg you, but i guess because i am new that i am not able too.
Here is a screen shot, Hopefully this will help you.
---

*** Got it working.
In SDR# I had to increase the bandwidth to 250000.
I installed a virutal audio cable.
SDR# audio out went to this virtual cable.

UniTrunker got setup as if it was using a audio feed from a discriminator tap from a scanner.

So the Unitrunk Audio in is this Virtual Audio Cable.
Make sure it is not muted.

With the adjustment of the bandwidth i got more signal.

Then it was just fine tuning the frequency , Once i got a solid lock the site window in Uni popped up.

This will definitely help or at least give me something else to try.. I tried PMing you but it says you don't allow PMs..

Thanks again..
Doug

There is no site in Holland Twp., it was re-located to Bridgeton Twp. (Bucks County)
Reportedly the tower in Holland Twp. was overloaded and the site build was scrapped. Also there never was a 500 Mhz. site there as well, you were probably hearing the Springtown (Buckwampum) site on 500 mhz.it has about 900' ground elevation in the north end of Bucks County.

Thanks for the info. I will have to take a ride and see where it starts to come in on NW NJ side.

Just keep in mind that (when using a scanner) 700 drops off a lot sooner than 500, so scanner users will see a smaller coverage area with the new system versus the old. From a radio user's standpoint, I've noticed it's actually slightly better. Not sure why that is, though...

Could be that your radio is designed to specifically handle 700/800 bands versus a scanner that is designed to handle everything from 25-1300. Band-specific radios often have better reception versus a scanner.

I would also say a good part of that has to do with interference from cell sites on the 700/800 band which I am sure is not much of an issue with the subscriber radios.

This probably is a dumb question, so I apologize in advance. The police radio station identifier/callsign switched from WPKZ618 to WQRY324. Did that change because the frequencies went from 500MHz to 700MHz, or is it just because it's a totally new radio system?

Different frequencies for a new system thus a new license and new callsign.

Curious if anyone else is having any issues receiving police in zone 6? When the change over first took place I had no problems picking them up- lately I have noticed I get fire and ems booming in with no problems- but the zone appears dead for police- once in a while I will pick something up.

I am using a uniden 436.

I have been able to receive the Bucks system as far away as Valley Forge with a mag mount Larsen antenna.

Thanks

I'm not having any problems receiving zone 6 on my 436 using the stock antenna. I'm stationary.

No problems at all. 436 for the car with Spectrum Force antenna mag mount. 536 at home with a Scantenna in the attic. I did notice since day one the modulation has gotten lower.

I notice in the database that the 500 MHz Fire Police Repeater channel has been marked as deprecated. Can anyone confirm that it's no longer being used? That repeater was not licensed to or part of the county's communications assets, and to my knowledge the fire police association still maintains it.

and with the new system how about RID's like was listed under the 500mhz system, have the iD's changed - helps keeping track of fire/ems units

Scroll back. That was covered earlier in this thread. The IDs are completely different.

Yes, the repeaters are still operational and programmed in the radios. They don't get used much however.
