Well, I'm stumped and I'm wondering what I'm missing.

I have a BCD436 and after updating with Sentinel I get the Police Zones 6 and 7 and county dispatch channels in fairly clear. However, certain channels haven't made a peep yet, such as EMS or Fire North. I even took the 436 to one of my stations and confirmed that there was activity on those channels with our Motorola radios, but the 436 was silent.

There is a DAT in the lower right and I'm getting a good solid 3-4 bars in signal. I played with the p25 threshold and set it to MANUAL and 5. Squelch is set to 2.

Any ideas why certain ones are silent? I'm not very savvy with the 436 yet as I just got it and its a HUGE technological improvement over my old RS one so I could be overlooking something. Thanks!

Help with Bucks 700Mhz system

Hey guys, have 2 radios, Uniden 325P2, which works great on the new system when I take it in my Jeep and hook up my mobile all band radio shack mobile antenna. However, my BCD536HP, barely gets any transmissions. I ordered a new Yagi with 13DB gain, my question is which way should I point it?? Im in Upper Southampton, by Station 2. Any ideas where the repeater is up here? Any help would greatly be appreciated

You are between 2 sites, one at the 911 center off Johnsville Blvd. and the other at the Lower Southampton Twp. building on Desire Ave. You will have to determine which has best signal at your location.

I would try setting the manual to 8 instead of 5. Most all the sites I am receiving are dead nuts on at 8 for a threshold. I have mine at home set on Auto 8 and am receiving the system very well.
Try that and let us know how it goes.

Am I just lucky

Having had a Home Patrol 1 since they first came out, and now a new HP-2 for the last month. On last Saturday I updated my Sentinel software wnd wrote it to the scanner. On Sunday as the switch over was occurring I was not receiving the new system. Looking in the software I noticed the new system, deleted my old favorite list and created a new one with the new system, wrote to the scanner selected the new favorite list and received the new system loud and clear on all frequencies. Also driving around the area with it sitting on the passenger seat I'm happy with the performance. No issues ar all, I'm using a RS-800 antenna, and live in the eastern section of Warringtong (Bristol Rd & Valley Rd. ) I have two friends with new 436's and they are having all sorts of issues. Now my question, is the HP-2 a better scanner, or am I just lucky, or is it operator error with the 436's? The reason I didn't purchase the 436 is because I was familiar with the HP.

I have my 436 programmed with the new system and it has been working very well since the switch. I have been receiving clear dispatches and mobile radios as far west as Harleysville. I have a larsen tri band antenna on the car.

I have not tried it yet with my PSR 800.

I got mine Sunday and had the same problem. Go into the menu and "Select Service Types." Make sure all of the appropriate ones are selected. I wasn't getting the fire or EMS bands, and it turned out EMS Talk and Fire Talk were not selected, among other things I wanted to hear. Hope that helps - worked for me.

I'm wondering the same thing.. I'm ready to pull the trigger on the HP-2 or the 436 but not sure which one would perform better on the new Bucks system..

Question for those using an HP2.

Did the new Bucks system work out of the box or did you need to tweak anything to get it to grab transmissions? My HP2 is silent on the new system. Even using my outdoor ST-2, I get 3 bars but no audio. I checked service types, all are turned on.

My 436 picks it up great. I posted a few days ago that I could hear the system at work, but, not 5 miles away at home. Starting this past Friday, I can now hear the system at home too. Did they boost the power or something?

What system name appears on the scanner? If it says Bucks you're on the old system. The new system name is Bucks County Public Radio Network. Go into your software and creat a new favorite with the new system and delete the old list.

It is Bucks County Public Radio Network. I deleted the old system last Monday when I added the new system. Even double checked while changing the volume offset after adding.

LMS Issues

I believe I am encountering LMS issues in Morrisville, Warrington, and part of Bristol Boro on an RS Pro-668. There are very few transmissions and then several dropped ones that are silent. I understand the limitations within modern phase 2 scanners with regards to this problem but I'm wondering if anyone has come up with any solution to this issue aside from using a Yagi antenna. Are there any settings that can be tweaked to fix this? These radios will all be stationary. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, experiment with your best position to monitor and leave the radio there. It's kind of like the old days of adjusting rabbit ears. Find the spot on your desk or shelf or wherever the signal is best and that's where it should stay. In fact, glue it down lol

Sorry, but that's the best you're going to do...

I am looking for someone who would be willing to provide me a private Zone 9 feed for a short period of time. I have a close friend who works for Ivyland PD and I would like to hear him when he works, from my home here in Orlando, Florida. Please feel free to call my cell: 407.574.3344 or email me with your interest: joe@matternmedia.com
