can i get some help what site or sites for niagara area ?

I can't help with that area specifically.

But, I do have a programming file for Uniden scanners that has all of the NYSEG control channels I could find. It seems that the same channels are reused throughout the system.

That 'could' be a starting point for you.

If you aren't using a Uniden scanner, you'd have to program all of those frequencies (43 of them) into your scanner. That could be a chore.

You can pm me if you prefer.

Set the scanner to search 151 MHz to 154 MHz for P25 control channels. Any that are found probably belong to NYSEG.

Ok, I created a FreeScan programming file with just the NYSEG control channels and put it into a ZIP file for unloading here.

Download it and unzip the .996 file. (48_ALL_NYSEG_CCs.996)

The file has ONLY the NYSEG system so you can program that into your BCD996XT without disturbing the rest of your current programming.

Two things to keep in mind.
1. The file I created has System Quick Key 48 assigned to it. If you already are using that SQK, you'll need to open the file in FreeScan and change it to a quick key that you aren't using.
2. If you program it using the settings in the screen shot below, FreeScan will just add that system to your scanner without changing or erasing any other settings.

Assuming it's programmed into your BCD996XT successfully, have the radio scan or search only that system.
Press HOLD and rotate the tuning knob to the first frequency in the file. (151.730 mHz)
Then slowly rotate the tuning knob one step at a time. Let it sit on each frequency for a few seconds.
You 'should' eventually see a signal meter indication on the scanner.
At that time, if it's a NYSEG control channel, it will display the System ID and Site similar to the following.
SID:0269H-0109

The last four digits will be the site number. (0109 in the case above)

Repeat that for each frequency in the file. (There may be more than one site that you can receive.)

Once you've identified the active control channels, you can create a System File for each site.

You can PM me if you have additional questions.

Good luck,
Rich

Reception of NYSEG has disappeared from HP-1

As of a few days ago, I can no longer monitor New York State Electric & Gas. Anyone know what has changed?
I updated the HPDB, the firmware has been updated, too. Has this problem before either were updated. Reception is fine on my 996T and 396XT.

Reception of Police & other services is normal & functional. Anyone have any ideas??

Thanks & regards,
bob

You need a digital scanner. IIRC, yours is analog only.

Eh. They came in and did my county awhile back. Wasn't too impressed. They came up with the same recommendations that I did at work. I didn't like the propagation maps they did...looked like they used the ham radio software for propagation thats floating around (looked pretty close for the maps I saw).

I thought they were way overpriced for what they charged the county for the work they did, but that what they (the county) gets for not doing their homework.

So our broke NY county, they paid big $$$ to read what we already knew, and that much $$$ was spend on a pdf file instead of actual improvements! Ahhhh, how I loved NY.

The Island is serviced by LIPA. Go to the Suffolk Co page in the RR Database and scroll down to the bottom of the page where it says "Utilities" and click on LIPA.

I just submitted the following info to the database and I wonder if anyone else in the area can sort out the apparent multiple stations on the control channels.

Update to my previous report on Bristol Site with Geneva TGs

I have been moniting 152.8025 with UniTrunker and have obtained the following data:

System BEE00-269
Site 001-032
NAC 260

153.5600
152.5925
152.8025 C

TG 151 and 153(no 152)as previously reported

152.5925 is seldom active due to only 2 TGs on the systems (77 hits on 153.560, 3 hits on 152.5925)

I recently have been getting some interference from an apparent additional site in the area on the
152.8025 control channel.

I get a mix of what was 2 and now possibly 3 sites control channels on 152.210 and I can not decode
anything from the mess. I suspect it may be Italy Hill, Dansville and Attica.

Does the Bristol site send a callsign? What sites are listed as neighbors?

Western NY has not been mapped out very well yet. I don't have a site for 152.210 yet, and I only show 152.8025 at Bristol in that part of the state. It is also a CC at Brewster.

I see no indication of neighbors, it seems to be stand alone. Up until a few weeks ago the CC was a solid copy but now, although the strength is the same, it seems to be mixing with a co-channel signal that sometimes tears up the data and gives a lot of errors on UniTrunker.

Amid the garbage data, I occasionally see a possible additional site "001-017" that might be valid.

I can't stand to listen to the constant digital on the CC to try to get an ID so I listened to 153.560 with the volume down somewhat on the digital voice traffic to try to catch an ID. They are sending a group of 2 or 3 call signs and I miss the beginning but after several attempts I did get one ending in 619 and the other ?93.

That could be WQHE619 & WPVF293.

I can never decode anything from the mess on 152.210.

I should be able to receive at least 6 sites in the area but I only hear the CCs on 152.210 and 152.8025 so it seems that there are multiple sites sharing each CC.
