152.2175...it has to be either Brewster or Ninham...full scale here on the Southeast/Patterson border near NYSEG Brewster. Shows as Site 127. I'm going to go with Ron...I think the transmitter is on Ninham.

So with everyone listening to this system, does anyone have a list of active talkgroups with respect to their location?

There isn't much on the rr database....unless everyone here is just listening to control channels.

Here's a screen shot of six hours of logging the NYSEG sites I receive in Broome County. Sorted by TG. Many of which are identified in this thread.

Anyone know any sites in the Syracuse area? On the way home today I grabbed 4 CCs:
152.1575
152.5025
152.7875
152.1425

My first attempt at P25, but was able to pick up a convo at one point.
The last one seems best here in Constantia.

Frequencies are re-used across the system.

The screen shot in post #105 above is interesting, but which talkgroups go with which transmitter sites?

The site is part of the system name. The SQK is 99, so .. 99 NYSEG 0109 is NYSEG site 109.

You can see each talk group shows up on several sites.

For example: 121 - Vestal Electric shows activity on five sites.
However if I only listen to one or two sites (107/109) I 'should' hear all of the activity for that TG.

Edit: I updated the screen shot above so the TG labels are shown.

Some additional information I 'believe' to be correct for sites 0109 & 0119.

Site 0109:
WQEQ261
Fixed Location 1
Latitude ---- Longitude
42-03-40.2 N, 075-56-44.2 W
Quarry, Ingraham Hill Road
Binghamton, NY
BROOME County

Site 0119:
WQIW290
Fixed Location 1
Latitude ---- Longitude
42-03-43.1 N, 075-34-11.8 W
EAST BOSKET ROAD
WINDSOR, NY
BROOME County

So I've gotten Pro96Com working and have monitored sites 104,107, 113, 115 and 117. Is any of the info I've collected helpful in any way?

A useless tidbit

I recently got an up-close look & pix of the rigs that our friends in the orange trucks use. They are MOTO XTL 2500. Looks like each truck is set up to operate anywhere in the state. A press of the "ZONE" button shows what I assume to be locations....BRW (Brewster), BNG (Binghampton) & a bunch of others. I'll try to gather up more info, if I can.

Anyone have an operators manual for the XTL 2500?

Read the thread. There have been several requests for specific data.

Not necessarily. You will hear activity for a talkgroup only as long as a unit that is affiliated with the talkgroup is registered on the site you are monitoring.

I thought the following was obvious.

Since that talkgroup is Vestal, and those two sites blanket the entire Vestal service area, then you should hear all of the talk groups working the Vestal area.

I would think you could always 'assume' that there is at least one Vestal affiliated unit in the Vestal area. With that being the case, you could hear all other Vestal units no matter where they are physically located within the system coverage area.

Since I was talking about listening to that area, I think I was clear enough.

This is not an operators manual, but I found this a couple of years ago when we got the XTL2500's installed for our Fire/EMS System http://bfdradio.net/BFD XTL 2500 Mobile Radio.pdf#search='motorola xtl2500'.

The users manual is fairly uninformitive for the scanner listener as it is very basic. Most of the manual reads "if enabled...."

This powerpoint is a little better to start with:
http://sdnorthzone.net/Communications/05 Operations.ppt

What I find interesting, is that whoever came up with programming templates never expanded them out for the XTL2500/5000 radio display. The zone AND channel names can be 14 characters long. The XTS2500/5000 only allows up to a total of 14 characters. Usually the first 3 are the used as a zone name. My guess is that they did the portable programming first and then just cloned the codeplug over in CPS.
