The actual frequency is 152.8025. Setting your search step size to 7.5 kHz should give you the right frequency in search mode. Can you pick up any other control channels from NYSEG or is that the only one?

Sounds like you have found Site 130. Good work!

EDIT: I just re-checked my listing (which is undergoing revision based on a trip this past weekend). Site 130, if located in the lower Hudson Valley, is on a tower where no VHF licenses exist for NYSEG. That would be the third known instance of NYSEG operating a VHF high band trunking site from a tower where they only possess VHF low band licenses.

That's what we are trying to figure out. Try monitoring the known VHF frequencies for NYSEG (as listed at NF2G.com). If you find a P25 control channel, then set up your scanner for CC-only monitoring and it will find the rest of the channels and enable you to monitor the voice talkgroups.

Details that will help us to map out the network can be obtained by using PRO96COM.

I found another one on 152.2200 with an ID of 0269h-0127, but it's a lot weaker than the first one.

The frequency is 152.2175 MHz.

You really need to look at the NYSEG system page on NF2G Forensic Scannist Pages.

http://nf2g.com/scannist/0269.html

BTW, I am uploading a new version of the page without the diagrams tonight. It will take a bit longer to revise the maps.

Here's a .usd formatted file that Uniden owners may find useful. I use it when I travel around the state. The System Quick Key is '9'.

It has all of the known (to me) NYSEG CC frequencies.

There's currently quite a bit of activity in some areas due to the storm on Tuesday. They're still working to restore power in many areas.

It 'may' help you find the NYSEG operations in your area.

Rich

CC frequencies in the file:
151.7300
151.9700
152.0525
152.0675
152.0825
152.0975
152.1425
152.1575

152.5175
152.5325
152.6375
152.6825
152.6975
152.7125
152.7425
152.7575
152.7875
152.8025
152.8175

152.8025 is full scale on both my 396 and 996 Uniden scanners here in Putnam Valley. 152.2175 is much weaker, but readable. When the system activates, communication switches over to 152.1425, and that is also full scale. It is possible that NYSEG is transmitting from a tower here in PV on Oscawana Lake Road, just south of Tinker Hill Road, or from the AT&T tower on route 301 to get coverage in the western part of the county, but I heard crews in Bedford and Lewisboro using the above frequencies after last week's storms came through, and I doubt if their mobile radios could reach here from those 2 towns--too many hills in between, and Putnam Valley is in a big hole. Try scanning 151 Mhz to 153 Mhz and see if you pick up any control channels. It surprises me that you can't hear anything--I would have assumed that they were transmitting from Mt. Ninham, as I think that is the highest spot in the county.

The most active group in Delaware County has been and still is 221. Almost constant activity. (At least the eastern part which can be heard from Broome County. Oneonta Service Center, Deposit, Walton area etc..)

Sites, by order of hit count:
0107 CC 152.1425
0118 CC 152.7425
0119 CC 152.2175

Hi To Ron, KA2IIA & AEMTKieran,

I'm Bob from Mahopac & my call is N2OAM. I'm not digital equipped, yet. I can hear both CC's (152.8025 & 152.2175) here full scale on my 780XLT. I'm usling a Austin Ferret antenna fed with LMR 400 into a Stridesburg amplified multi coupler. Elevation at my qth is abt 750' ASL.

I was always quite happy listening to everything in analog & now NYSEG comes along & puts an end to that. Still mulling over what digital capable rig to get. I'm a big fan of the smaller hand held scanners & HT's. The 396T is the only one that even comes close to small. Still trying to decide between a hand held or base rig.

Oh, had 152.1425 plugged in & it just came alive & it's full scale, too.

Id like to say thanks to all in this thread who have been contributing missing pieces of this giant puzzle. As a utility buff (& collector of old utility line equipment and especially old street lights & photocells), I was less than happy to see NYSEG disappear from 48.32Mhz.

Regards,
bob
N2OAM

PS Ron, I'm just on the other side of the TSP. Maybe we can get together on 2 Meter simplex. Or on 6 or HF. 73!

Site 130 appears to cover the lower Hudson Valley. However, NYSEG has no VHF high band licenses in that part of the state. It appears that sites 121, 125, and 130 (at least) are being operated from towers in the Hudson Valley area that are only licensed for VHF low band.

Also, NYSEG has no licenses for transmitter sites (on any band) outside New York state. Scratch "Mount Tom" as an interpretation of MOTO. Also, the MOTO identifier has been copied from three different sites. All of them can be received from the I-88 area, which rules out any place south of about Troy.

Does anyone know where Arlington Heights is located? It does not appear to be a municipality, and it is not related to the Arlington just outside Poughkeepsie. TGID 221 is definitely not Poughkeepsie, either, as noted by others above. Maybe it's an apartment complex somewhere.

Here's some license, location, and other information.

As noted in FCC filings, some frequencies have or will change.

Here's a map of the five WQEG663 sites.

This covers most of the area I've been listening to over the last several days related to storm damage and outages.
