You can download the configuration from a Pro-96 and then upload it into the Pro-106, but I don't have anything at this time that can program the Pro-96.

Mike

Mike,

I did that already with the P06 to 106.... not a particularly good result.

Thanks for the info.

I'm open to suggestions for improvement on that import. It's intended to be a starting point, and due to the differences between the scanners, there's going to have to be some manupulation of the configuration to get it to the point you want. The same button presses should turn on the same frequencies that the Pro-96 had.

One example would be the case where you have two or more banks in the Pro-96 that area actually the same system. There's no way for PSREdit500 to know that they are actually the same, so it creates two TSYS objects (one for each bank). It's not too difficult to move the TGRP objects from one TSYS to another, and then delete the duplicate TSYS though.

I used the import from a PRO-2055 function today for the first time. I backed up all the data before playing with it. It took me two tries to get it right. The part that wasn't real clear was the destination scan list number, as I couldn't tell from the program if it was source, or destination. But I figured it out, and it worked just fine!

It seems software development for these complex scanners could become a never ending project, as there are so many things it can do. Mike I think you're doing a fantastic job!

Sorry Mike,

I should have made it clear... I did NOT use PSRedit to do that import of p96 folders.

I used Win500..... and things are pretty messed up.

The frequencies seem to be spread out over different banks/folders after the import, I got several error messages with option to do something to try to fix them... Too many to recall what they were.

Bottom line is that loading my Pro-96 to Win500 and then trying to load them back onto my Pro-106 has not been successful in the way I would have expected or desired.

I don't have PSRedit ( yet ) so I can't comment on how well it perfomrs such an import/export between the 96 and the 106.

Suggest move clear button

I have a suggestion for next iteration of Win 500.
Never hurts to ask...

When scrolling backwards in time thru the data in the text box, one has to move the cursor upwards, and can easily (!!) hit the clear button immediately above the scroll bar...thus losing the data one was trying to review. While it is possible to open the file in notepad or my favorite Excel, if the "Clear" button could be moved more to the left it would allow fumble fingered folk a bit more protection.
(Much more difficult would be to specify what is shown in the data window - I'd like to see to se the TGRP # in addition to the TGRP name for example. It's all in the file, just not displayed.)
Otherwise, I just love it!
Thoughts?

You might want to put this in the WIN500 thread. This is the PSREdit thread.

Sorry I didn't get you your key a little sooner. I was at my daughter's marching band all night party last night, so I couldn't get to my computer until this morning. You should have it now though.. :)

Are you still hanging out with high school kids? ;)

Oh... and to keep this on-topic, I'm still experiencing occasional program crashes on Vista like I showed you in July. A reminder: read operation from PSR-500, some editing (or maybe none), attempt a write operation to PSR-500, dialog stating that port can't be opened, ack the dialog and *poof* PSREdit goes away. As in July, more of an annoyance than anything. I've got current USB adapter driver, as far as I can tell.

This is one of those things I can't reproduce, which makes it difficult to fix. I've looked at the code, but didn't see anything that should cause that.

Hi Mike and all--- Just a quick note-- on the latest version (1.81 R1 B126), I am getting this message when I attempt to close the program:

List index out of bounds (10)

Not sure if related to this error, but I am not seeing any scroll bars and within the "Trucking Objects" page, the Display Format info top right hand corner is scrolling off the page, even when the window is maximized.

I am running this at 1600x1200 resolution-- the previous version was working ok-- I see in the new version you incorporated the remember column width function-- I have not been able to test it since i cannot close the program and get the error message mentioned above. The only way for my to close the newest version is to kill it through Task Manager.

The error message is actually caused by the save column size function. It's fixed for the next release, which I'm hoping to get out shortly.

On the scroll bar issue, are you using a pixel setting other than 96 pixels? I've had one other report of the scroll bars not appearing, and that person was using 120 pixels.

You hit the nail on the head with that one-- I am running at 120.

RR Import Feature

Took a short trip to San Antonio last week and before leaving the Dallas area I spent about ½ hour importing systems from the Radio Reference database into my PSR Edit program for my PSR-500. Imported McClennan County, Bell County EDACs, two VA and one hospital LTR systems in Temple, Fort Hood’s new 380Mhz digital Trunked system, Williamson County, LCRA EDACs (three sites), Austin/Travis County, San Antonio EDACs (three sites) with wildcards only for non Pro-Voice talkgroups, Brooks AMC and the San Antonio wide digital military Trunked system. I ended up filling up the PSR-500 with 1800+ objects with all of this.

First, I am consistently amazed with the technology and information that is available today. To think that just 30 years ago I was installing and removing crystals in a scanner that only received one band, and could only monitor four channels! Then we were given Police Call, which was a good source for info., but still lacking. The Radio Reference premium subscriber system is well worth the money, and the information available on the site, especially within the past five years, has improved a hundred fold. The RR import feature is a great, and I would like to thank Lindsay and Mike publically for their efforts in making it all work. Keep up the great work with PSR Edit Mike.

When problems arrise, I try to fix them as quickly as possible. Actually on this one it took longer than normal, because I was trying to work with someone to fix the scrollbar issue, but with the other fixes that are in here, I had to release this one.
