i took my sc230 to the irl race last night (first time using it) and had the tv broadcast signal going in and out, depending how i had my scanner held. got some bleedthrough and a lot of static as well. pretty disappointed actually, as my only other experience using a scanner was a borrowed bc60, and the signal was much better. i was using the stubby, and had the attenuator off for the first part, and on for the second. didn't make much of a difference. the car frequencies were alright, but the broadcast wasn't. and the radio broadcast couldn't be made out at all.
was also disappointed in the sound. i had read somewhere that the sound on this scanner was really low and uniden most likely did that so that people have to buy the volume boosters (b/c of course uniden knows how to set the volume on a RACE SCANNER). and i had a 25db noise reducing headset, so it shouldn't have been that.
all in all it was a rather frustrating first time used at the track. not so much bothered by the sound as i can just buy a booster, but the static, bleedthrough, and inconsistent signal was disheartening. any suggestions? are some stubby's better than others? i have 2 - i used my racing electronics stubby b/c it was smaller. any input? any tips?
