They’re updating radios now, I’m not sure when they will switch. The OLD TPD personality has A,D and G not encrypted, but the NEW TPD personality have sides A,D and G encrypted.

You are correct, they are updating radios and will be full encryption soon

I sure hope you all are wrong. I enjoy listening too much. It is interesting because it is up to the town. Look at the BA Trunk System - Broken Arrow PD/ Bixby PD full encryption but Jenks on the same system still in the clear.(for now).

Not surprised about all TPD TGs going encrypted. Sign of the times. I wonder if they will still tone out on RMA-2A? Will county follow suite as well? Just have to find something else to listen to.

Not sure if it helps, but next door Midwest City PD was running some kind of analog uptil a couple years ago. They went P25 with two sites for simulcast, leaving everything north of Reno Ave (our version of Main Street in the OKC area) with poor reception. I helped install the third simulcast antenna on the side of Midwest City Hospital. It's about 60 feet up, just above a service elevator shaft.
At the time I was on staff at the hospital. I escorted three contractors to the roof and to the service elevator they decided on. I suggested they use that location so the hospital tower would block some of the signal from the north site and reduce simulcast problems. I'm not sure if it does. They looked at me weird til I explained I've held a couple radio licenses and tinkered with them for years. The OCAPA tower is within line of sight of the hospital roof so I decided it was time to show off a bit by making a few quick contacts on the 650 GMRS repeater.
That broke the ice pretty well and we yammered on about radio theory while we worked.
OKC itself does have a lot of clear voice comms IMO. I pick up Yukon and Mustang pretty regular on my SDS-100 too.

If this is true when (specifically) will TPD dispatch become encrypted?

I would think the media will be litigating -aggressively- to stop this.

Well… I know that the media
in Tulsa will most likely litigate aggressively to stop basic dispatching channels from being encrypted…as I believe they should.

Agreed. I wish all channels could be in the clear, but there are those who would listen to the tactical stuff for the wrong reasons. All I need to know is there's an incident, say, at the apartments on SW 59th and May. I'll avoid that area and find out later from news 9 that it had turned out badly.
Speaking of ... Time to power up the sds. It's late and I'm still out, I'd like to know who else is up. 🙂

They may try to take away Tulsa police dispatch channels, but if I know the state of Oklahoma…
It will be sometime before this happens, even if the poster, who stated this, actually has correct information.

TPD and TFD have maintained a very “open” relationship with the public..TPD providing live calls on their website and TFD providing real time CAD information on Agris.

They should maintain this open policy—If they don’t the media will push back prodigiously.

I have the correct information, I don’t have a date, but it is coming. I am guessing that they will provide the media with capabilities to monitor, but that is just an assumption. I know that one problem that has occurred is the self proclaimed “auditors” that show up on scenes and traffic stops. I don’t know if this is a direct result, but it seems coincidental that since these incidents have been occurring more often and all of a sudden radios are being programmed for encryption on all main sides.

And I (and I think the public as well)
believed their “complete transparency” campaign they have articulated was genuine.

Hypocritical on their part; poignantly naive on mine.. and genuinely sad.

Yup. Mass channel registration to TGs 705, 711, 717 from the three TPD TGs this morning right at 9am.

What it looks like based on radio IDs.

705 - Gilcrease
711 - Mingo Valley
717 - Riverside

Just heard some traffic in the clear on Mingo Valley talk group 1921... @wx5uif is it encrypted on these new Radio ID's or are we seeing move to Phase II? Sorry haven't had time to analyze yet.

Oh I just put them in - I see it temporarily stopping on 705 / 711 /714 - but the SDS200 mutes the encrypted and moves on... Sad Sad Day - wonder what the News Agencies are doing....

Fox23 ran a short story about it this morning saying all of TPD is now encrypted. They mentioned that decrypted scanners are available, however, not to the public obviously. My SDS200, 436 and 536 were all set to TPD and as @rvacs mentioned, I see it stop but continue due to encryption. Sad and highly doubt it will change.
