Midwest City just issued a fire warning as well

Several housing additions in MWC area have been warned to evacuate due to a wildfire.

They used the weather radio as well - guess it's living up to its "all hazards" name today...

Turtle Wood, Wind Sun, Oakwood? Think that's the additions it said? The alert only said the names once...

Norman fighting fires in town and sending M/A to Cedar Country's big wild fire. Also sending M/A to MWC for *their* big fire. McClain Co T/F heading to Cedar Country, Moore coming, too. Norman calling in off-duty personnel and activating reserve apparatus.

Yikes.

It's a wild ride, no doubt.

I just saw on the news that Norman is also worried about that high-ride building downtown falling over if the wind stays up too long. A friend that works in Norman mentioned that to me last weekend, first I'd ever heard of it.

Stillwater, Glencoe, Ripley, Morrison, Perry, Perkins, Ingals and many others are fighting a massive fire west of Stillwater moving towards the City of Stillwater. Evacuations are being sought from Lake Carl Blackwell East to town. Have heard reports of at least 4 houses gone and several propane tanks exploded.

wow, I figured it had green'd up enough to keep these kind of fires from happening in the past couple weeks. I was WAY wrong...I wish I was close enough to listen in, or better yet, go help.

There is so much on fire in Midwest City, even with every piece of fire apparatus in eastern Oklahoma County as new units arrive on scene, asking where they are needed, Incident Command has resorted to telling them to pick anything that is burning and get after it.

Tinker has an engine company at station 2 and they were needed for a small grass fire at the CVS at 15th and Air Depot.

I have never heard the weather radios used for a civil emergency message before in my life until the two that I've heard this afternoon. The display says "Fire Warning".

The wind sounds like thunder and shakes the house.

The Meadow Park Edition north of Stillwater is now being evacuated!

Not looking too good for Choctaw High School. Shrouded in smoke, fire to the south.

Sounds like the main body of attack is a mile to the east, at Choctaw Road. No resources available to do much more...

I haven't had my weather radio go off so many times since last year's severe weather... The evacuation area in MWC / Choctaw is getting seriously large. SE 15th & Westminister up to NE36th & Henny? Or maybe Choctaw? About 15-20 square miles so far...

That's the only problem I've noticed with the fire warnings so far, they aren't very clear on the boundaries. But it is moving so fast I'm sure they are having a hard time keeping up as it is.

I guess we're getting a taste of what parts of California goes through seems like every year!

Ouch. MWC and Oklahoma County Sheriff lost a shared tower. Whetsel said the sheriff lost one channel, MWC lost several. Is that one of the trunk system towers? Or MWC's old system?

Likely part of site 8. When I ran Unitrunker on it to see if there were patches different than on 40, the control channel sounded like sh!+. Hope they get it fixed.

"The cavalry has arrived" at Choctaw HS. Looks like they're going to try to protect it.

I believe Whetsel said the tower had been destroyed by fire, if that's the case it may take a while to get back on the air. (He was being interviewed on Ch. 9 a bit ago.)

To the very best of my knowledge, all of the 800 stuff except the MCT transmitter is colocated with the OKC EDACS equipment at the OK County District 2 facility at I-240 and Anderson.

The equipment that was damaged was at the Midwest City Water Plant on Westminster Rd. That facility houses the some MCPD and OCSO UHF radios and possibly the MWC MCT radio. I heard that Midwest City was having MCT problems.

What a mess.

I might add that to their credit, Moore FD and Edmond FD (that I heard) switched their 800 radios to Midwest City 7A and integrated with the IC.

Heard Norman's dispatcher report that MWC fire was not on state system probably wouldn't be able to talk directly.

Neither Midwest City PD nor FD lost the DPS System (at least while I was monitoring) the Norman dispatcher was likely just misinformed. Some MCPD units reported that the radios were on and off, but I think that this was a function of the fire at the water plant with regard to the legacy system and on the 800 side, the result of the nature of using 800 MHz trunking for emergency public safety communications.

I notice this morning that along with the PD and the FD, Midwest City EMS is operating using their talkgroups on DPS system. I have heard traffic on MCEMS UHF 2 (461.1500) this morning, however the primary UHF dispatch and operations channel (461.825) may be out of service.

I do not hear any traffic on the Midwest City MCT frequency (854.1125).
