I have called them (state fire marshall's office) a couple times at an LEO or FF's request.... most departments don't have thier own fire marshal..... not sure how the jurisdiction thing works!

State law requires that all fires be investigated. If suspicious the list gets real long ie including mayors? Like Osbi If I remember correctly, they must be called in for investigations and do not have original case authority. For code enforcement they do have authority.
