Any ideas?
Both of mine match at 9 same as all win9x software.

The Buy Now button gives me HTTP/1.1 404 Object Not Found

com port 6 for me. Both the 96 and 500 work great with it. Have no idea why yours is not working. Did you try the 96 with com port 12? Maybe you changed the cable location since you messed with Win96.

WIN500 works fine with com 12.

NOTHING works with PSREdit. I have been through the entire list. I tried reconnecting the cable etc... Nothing works. It just bonks and says it can't find the com port.

Odd, I just look at the com port setting for the USB adapter in the Windows device manager and plug in the number. I'm using it on Vista.

So (On the Radio Object ID) Leave it blank and when loaded to the radio, the radio will assign it? (Just being careful so I don't corrupt the radio's memory by having two objects with the same (blank/zero) ID.

I'm having fun getting all of the information loaded.

Looks Great. Thanks!

Ok, are you talking the radio id for a private call? Or are you talking about the Object ID that's assigned by the program when a new object is created?

Starrsoft WIN500 Software: http://starrsoft.com/

PSREdit Software: http://www.psredit.com/

Butel ARC500 software: http://www.butelsoftware.com

I don't see any reference to ARC500 on the Butel website, or even a mention that they intend to support the new GRE scanners.

I think Mike has the jump on the market with PSREdit! Mike was the one who also developed the excellent PRO96COM!

I meant to say that it says CAN'T OPEN COM PORT.

I looked in the device manager and tried matching it. I even went down the list and tried them all. I can't figure it out. I'm using Vista on a Toshiba mini U-205 laptop.

It says it's not valid in what way? It should work as far as I can tell.

I don't have the scanner yet, so I haven't downloaded any software. I'm curious about whether PSREdit can read in non-proprietary file formats like csv or xls.

Hmmm... I will look into this. You said it was COM12 correct?

Mike,

I am not sure what happened the first time I used the software. I had not made any changes to the scanner. I was not trying to write to the scanner or anything like that (at least that I am aware of). I clicked the exit, said no to the save changes to file (I'd imported the scanner data, so the application would see the change) and disconnected the scanner.

When I started it back up, the memory had been reset. I know there is a button to reset the scanner to default settings, but I would like to think you have added one of those redundant 'are you sure you really really want to do this" dialogs (fail safe).

I did have one strange thing happen this morning before I started work. I opened one of the V-scan folders from the CD. I did not have the scanner attached, I just wanted to see the file contents. I get this. It does not seem to happen when I open the one file that I have developed on my own. I'll test if I need the scanner connected after work.

One thing I would like to see is the ability to have two files open (one of the v-scan files and my own file) so I can copy and paste between the two. That is a wish, there seem to be other issues more pressing right now.

Yes, but NO com port works at all.

I referenced 12 because that's the one the computer assigned when I plugged the cable in. And com 12 works fine with Don Starr's stuff.

I just tried PSREdit on the XP box and it works great. So, it must be some confilict with my Toshiba Vista laptop.

Couple Suggestions:

When adding a new Conv or Tgrp, having a field auto erase if you start typing would be helpful.

If there was a way to Add then quickly Save and Get a screen to add next, that'd speed up data entry while waiting on a CSV or similar.

Posting a release date / version or something during these early days when changes are expected frequently, would be appreciated.

I emailed Gommert at Butel late last week asking when he might be ready to roll out software. He said he was waiting on some software information from GRE before he could start. Sounds like (this is just ME talking) it might be a few weeks/months before we see anything from Gommert. But, then again, I could be wrong.

I registered Mike's PSREdit this am and will register Win500 whenever Don has the link to Papal setup. Likely will not register Butel.
