Couple Suggestions:

When adding a new Conv or Tgrp, having a field auto erase if you start typing would be helpful.

If there was a way to Add then quickly Save and Get a screen to add next, that'd speed up data entry while waiting on a CSV or similar.

Posting a release date / version or something during these early days when changes are expected frequently, would be appreciated.

Cliff

All good suggestions, and added to the wishlist.

Auto erase can be frustrating too, especially if you're duplicating a talkgroup that has a similar alpha tag.

I'll post the release versions as I go. 1.01 will probably be available tonight if I can get it there. It fixes a few things that have been brought to my attention.

BTW, I created a Yahoo Group for PSREdit if anyone is interested.

About the only one you NEED to autoerase (Or just start Clear) is the Frequency in conventional Adds. Not sure a Talk Group needs to be clear(ed) if you are doing a Dupe. New should be clear I'd think.

Any reason you can't dupe a conventional object?

It's doing fine. Nice Job.

Nope, no reason at all. That particular menu is quite full though... I'll add that to the list as well.

I think Mike has the jump on the market with PSREdit! Mike was the one who also developed the excellent PRO96COM!

Pro96com or Win96? It looks a lot like Win96 (which I have, like and use quite a bit on my Pro96).

The name I see pop up on Pro96com is Michael Vander Veer.

Mike - One option that I would like to see, is the ability to change the color of the text & background of your software interface. It is hard to see in some light conditions on my laptop.

Thanks,

I am blind and use a screen reader. I have an old pro-92 and a pro-83 scanner. I use GRE SScanner Data Manager for my pro-92. I use load-83 for my pro-83. None of don's software work g with my screen reader. I am not going to buy a new radio until a program works with my screen reader.

is there currently a faster way to create talkgroups than creating the settings for each one or duplicating? Like for example, in previous software I could just open the pdf file from RR and copy and paste the column of talkgroups. Now I have to do each one over and over. Just wondering..

Thanks for the software tho

PSREdit Software Question

Hi Mike,

Same thought as above:

Will the ability to cut and paste conventional and trunked object data (from say an Excel spreadsheet) be eventually provided (sorry it this has been answered before)?

The reason I ask is because I already have enough TGs to fill most, if not all, of the 1800 objects in several V-Folders and it will take a mighty long time to put them and all their associated information in one item at a time.

Thanks.

I will agree with the last two posters. If the software can not easily allow one to paste multiple entries or import multiple entries (from Radio Reference, CSV/Excel files, etc), the software does not provide that much more value that manually entering each object via the scanner itself (ok well alpha tags are a bit easier at least). I had a list of about 300 talkgroups that I was looking forward to paste in, but I've given up after manually typing in about 50 or so.

If would be slick if we could manually edit the object ID as that would help with resorting information and possibly applying meaningful numbers to the IDs (like zone and channel numbers from a trunking system). I would suspect that as long as the software kept track of the object IDs and appropriate relationships to systems, that this could be easily accomplished.

Don't count on that. With the number of hours I put in within a relatively short period of time to get this version running, I don't think anyone would do it for free...

Mike

I agree! Hell, even ScanCat Lite isn't free.

There is a lot of work that goes into software development. The asking price for PSREdit is very reasonable, and from past experience with PRO96COM, I know you will support it, and continue to improve it. You really do listen to people who use your software. You're not in it just for the money. You also use what you develop, so I'm confident you will want it to be the best available.

There's only so much you can do to look different than other programs that do the same or similar things. The V-Scanner screen and processing are quite different. I don't know how Don is approaching the radio beyond what I've seen on a short look at Win500...

And Yes, I wrote PSREdit and Pro96Com

Not yet. It's on the wishlist though to be able to do more importing...

I don't know about easily accomplished, but it can probably be done. With the way objects are stored and used in the radio, it's not as easy as it might seem.

Com Port

I am using a Toshiba laptop with Vista tooand it works fine on COM 4

Yes, but NO com port works at all.

I referenced 12 because that's the one the computer assigned when I plugged the cable in. And com 12 works fine with Don Starr's stuff.

I just tried PSREdit on the XP box and it works great. So, it must be some confilict with my Toshiba Vista laptop.

Freakin bizarre. I even tried another USB port but it's still the same issue. I wonder if there's something installed that is causing a confict?
But, I don't what it would be.
