Older Radio shack USB cable...

I've just purchased a whistler 1040. Along with the arc500 software. I have an older usb cable that I used to use to program a PRO2055 scanner. Will it work with the Whistler scanner as well? TIA...

If the cable has a mono adapter on the end, remove it. The WS1040 requires a TRS stereo plug.

Well, the question is moot. The radio came with a cable. Now if I could just figure out how to program the MSWIN into it...

MSWIN is listed as phase 2.The WS1040 only does Phase1.

The database shows that you should be able to receive the sheriff dispatch and car to car talkgroups on MSWIN. They are the only P25 Phase 1 talkgroups in Jasper County. Everything else is Phase 2. Bay Springs PD is P25 Phase 2. The WS1040 is capable of decoding P25 Phase 1 only. D in the Mode column is Phase 1. T (TDMA) is Phase 2. Here is a sample of the talkgroups for Jasper County.

you will need to use the Bay Springs site in Smith County. The 2 sites in Jasper County are most likely out of range. The MSWIN talkgroups in Smith County are all Phase 1 and can be received by your scanner. If you would like, I can create an ARC500 file for your local area.

Here is an ARC500 file for Jasper and Smith Counties to get you started. Save the attached zipped file to your computer and extract. Open the extracted file with ARC500 and Upload to Scanner. Scan lists as follows:

Could someone make me an arc500 file for MSWIN for jasper, smith, forrest, covington, newton and jones counties with all of the conventional freqs as well? I'm willing to pay for the time. Also the mhp if I can hear any of them
