Not to mention why the Toronto site has gone offline, with a temporary one in it's place. Curious it would die so soon. I had noticed the RSSI on Site 40 had been greatly reduced before going offline entirely. I wonder if a PA failed or something?
It would think a blown antenna or major coupling component. One PA would not take a whole site down. The big question is where is 147 sitting? If it's where 40 was, then that eliminates an antenna. It would be just as effective to use the antenna/coupling site 147 is using for site 40. Another possibility is the site 40 control cards. It is interesting for sure. Speculation leads us all over the place.

Someone else already confirmed that 147 is coming from the same place as 40. The RSSI is about 10dBm different than 40 from eastern Mississauga, I'd assume they're using the existing site antennas, or at least ones at a similar height.

I guess there is no way to listen to OPP or EMS anymore?

As mentioned, if you're in an area that's flipped over to the new system; no - if you're in an area that hasn't flipped yet - you have days/weeks left for OPP and MTO. EMS is all gone already.

Local fire departments are moving towards trunked (and often encrypted) systems as well - too many problems with chasers, looky-loos, and personal information; and the technology for encryption isn't nearly as expensive (or battery draining) as it once was.

Just heard now (13:05 on 8/28/24) , PCC announced that Wellington County 6T 1OPS14 will be gone in 30 minutes and to transition to the new talkgroup.

Last Transmission(s) on Wellington County 6T 1OPS14 on FleetNet from the Cedarwoods tower in Kitchener:

TG 19039 OPP Wellington is active on LMRN now.
1OPS14 on FleetNet can now be marked Deprecated.

It also looks like FleetNet Site 12 Woodlawn is also inactive. Both 143.100 and 143.940 (main and alt control channel) are both down.

Just an update on FleetNet towers

Aylmer and Simcoe were taken off the air this morning.

Woodstock, Stratford, Brantford and Cedarwoods are all still online at the moment

Also Norfolk county made the change to LMRN around 10am

Western Region has all switched to the new system. Next week they probably will start with Highway Safety Division or Central Region
My best guess would be Central, but it could also be HSD if, in fact, the LMRN switch is east to west. How many weeks roughly was it for West Region to switch? A Month?

I'm here a lot
First report was July 30th and last was yesterday on Sept. 3rd, for the West Region.

In the meantime, I'm enjoying listening to OPP/MTO-E HSD broadcasts on FleetNet as the OPP are the sole users now. I just put it on system HOLD on the 536 and listen to what's going on on the 400 series highways.

I just heard the announcement on Britannia site 9 that the tower will be down for two hours today and for all units to use SIM 11. They are still calling out for any tow operators listening for assistance out by Highway 8.

For the 400 series highways, what would they use for asking for tow operators once switched?

Today Mississauga OPP requested a tow but no tows can hear so they asked Aurora OPP to request the tow for Mississauga. I think heads are going to roll.
