Ottawa P25 System on a PSR 600

I have the new Ottawa P25 system running on a 396T, and it seems to work fine.
However, I am having some difficulty with a PSR 600.

Does anyone have this system working on a PSR 600?
If so I would be interested in comparing setting with you.
I have not applied any updates to my PSR, because it tracks provoice talk groups and I don't want to loose this feature. So perhaps this is the problem.

Thanks, Mike

What is the scanner doing/not doing?

I programmed mine by hand, nothing special. Your firmware version sounds
older than mine (I don't think mine will track Provoice), may or may not be
part of the issue. Radio is a C version.

Yes it is one of the first, and it tracks PV talk groups that is why I do not upgrade it.
I don't know why the manufactures blocked PV tracking, it is not decoding audio so should be not problem. Users can lock out PV so they won't hear the noise.

I just reloaded the system in the PSR so will listen tomorrow and see how the audio sounds.
At this time it is tracking the CC fine but no activity so far.

If I am correct, some of the TG's that are patched are:

P25 EDACS
2017- 4-121 Waste 1
2018- 4-122 Waste 3
2003- 4-021 Unknown
2009- 124 Unknown

How do you have it set up for the 396T ?

As a Motorola APCO 25 system or Motorola Type 2 UHF ?

No, not Motorola and not UHF. It's a Harris P25 system using Tait radios. I'd think it would be
set P25-800 or something down those lines.

These are my choices. Which one do I choose? Some are obvious they're not the right one, but this is the whole list to choose from. I'm not in Ottawa all that often but if I travel I like to have it setup ahead of time as long as it works with a 396T.

Conventional
Motorola Type 1 Standard
Motorola Type 1 Splinter
Motorola Type 2 800 Mhz Standard
Motorola Type 2 800 Mhz Splinter
Motorola Type 2 800 Mhz Custom
Motorola Type 2 900 Mhz
Motorola Type 2 VHF
Motorola Type 2 UHF
EDACS Narrow
EDACS Standard/Wide
EDACS SCT
LT
Motorola APCO25

Before someone adds these to the DB, these new channels should be verified.

Several I tried are still on the EDACS system. This is possibly a Unitrunker mixing
up of the two systems.

In a case like this I recommend clearing the system channels and running from the start.

Update: looks like I'm too late.

The plan is that as various departments migrate from EDACS, channels from that system will be diverted to the new system. But that should be a fairly slow process.

I'm only seeing four channels right now, and with the snow starting they're pretty busy.

I think you are correct. UT did something strange there!
I deleted all of the channels except for the CC
Sorry about that, The next time I will verify before posting.

Has anyone else noticed a steady stream of "denied" on the system as shown in Unitrunker?

I see only two talk channels available, the other is tied up in offline testing (NAC 293).
Since more than two 20xx TGs seem to be linked back to EDACS, there may be
some blocking.

Some of the 20xx TGs seem to be patched to Interop (EDACS 530), and sounded
like water operations on another.

So the only 2 new talkgroups I was able to find were 2016 & 2019. Wasn't able to figure out who they were but I'm sure someone that lives closer to the city that's able to hear this system will be able to figure them out.

Ottawa P25?

Is anyone tracking progress on the City of Ottawa system rollout?

I listen a bit and so far have heard mostly waste/recycling operations and what sounds
like some other city services. I heard a bit of encrypted voice, may have been testing
as I suspect it was not the garbage trucks.
