Im using a WS1040 that was my father's and I downloaded the programming software and subscription from Radio reference and had the frequencies downloaded to the scanner.
Question I have is regarding transmissions received from Patrick AFB/SFB. Anything from there in the 300 mhz range comes up with whatever it is (Tower, etc) but sounds scrambled and scanner also shows a DG icon when transmission is picked up. Are the military frequencies scrambled or is there something I need to do on my end with the scanner to resolve? Thanks in advance for any help/advise.

Most of the PSFB and CCSFB talkgroups are full time encrypted and the very few that aren't full-time encrypted are usually partially encrypted.

Yeah that's true. Was mostly hoping to pick up aircraft on the scanner, not so much the other freq's.

The tower talkgroups are for communication with the ground crews. They aren't directing aircraft on the P25 system.
