Problem Monitoring Collier County, FL

Hi, this is my first post. I live in Naples and have a Uniden SDS100 and when I purchased it I paid for programming Collier County Sheriff and Naples PD. I know the County uses the EDACS system and for the life of me, I can't get any radio transmissions from either the CCSO or NPD. I can see it scanning but I hear absolutely no radio traffic. Is it my scanner or is Collier County having issues? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

According to what I read in this thread the police activity is now encrypted. See the forth post on the page.

Collier is now P25. As mentioned, LE is encrypted, but you can still monitor Fire/Rescue.

I'm sorry but 1). Why didn't you do your research before your purchase and 2). did the person you paid to program it actually take your money and program in the encrypted talkgroups as well ?!?!?

I read everything here on RR regarding Collier County but must have missed where it said LE is encrypted. The business where I purchased this scanner didn't know about LE being encrypted either. Live and learn.

Not only is encryption an issue, but Collier County is phasing out the EDACS system and are on a completely different P-25 system now.

Is RR behind in updating their web site? Would've been nice if they posted this. I used to rely on this site. I would think Collier County going encrypted would be something we should know.

It shows that Naples PD is in the clear though. Not sure if that's accurate as Florida loves encryption.

IF a user finds changes, it would have to be submitted first. One each RRDB page there is generally a "SUBMIT" tab

Let me see if I can help out. The EDACS system has been depreciated and is no longer in service. It’s presence does help in figuring out the new P25 Phase II layout.

Like many other RR DB contributors I have spent dozens of hours figuring out the new system and making all the DB submissions.

Unititrunker has been run on all sites and site visits made. The simulcast sites locations are not published as there is no need. There are 10. Read and reread the system description.

The present database is very accurate but perhaps not perfect. There are groups not in the database as well.

There is plenty to listen to, some effort however may need to be spent.

This Harris P25 is busy. Ran Unitrunker and have a CC update. This is the latest on Site 10 Simulcast. I will be sorting through the data and make further updates. In the meantime, DB submission made. As it is Harris any of these can be used as CC. 12 channels P25 and Phase 1 & 2 or 36 talk...
