HUGE difference between programming a trunked system and conventional frequencies. Laugh if you must, but know this, EVERYONE IS LAUGHING AT YOU!

Landon if you haven't found anyone yet to program shoot me a PM and I'll do programming for free; just send me a freq. list.

Anyone who charges more than a couple bucks to program a radio (that the person is an individual and NOT a business) is ripping you off, IMO. Mebey about 5 minutes worth of simple key-strokes, then load the codeplug and git r done.

I've got a deal for you Landon. If someone will cough up the modules for a T-band conversion, I'll convert a Systems Saber and give it to you free of charge - programmed and ready to go of course.

I'll look around on the net and help you try to locate the parts.

You won't be able to use it on GMRS like you want due to the splits being too tight, but at least you'll have a rock solid radio, granted if you can find the modules.

How hard is it to change the Band Splits on a Radio? Say like convert it from a 403 - 470 band split to a 450 - 520 MHZ radio?

It all depends on the radio in question. As far as the Sabers go, you have to change hardware in the form of modules, make a new codeplug in the new split, realign the radio and then program with your favorite frequencies.

remember one thing a radio programed for rx only and a scanner is the same thing. if the kid wants to "play" cop or firefighter, the adverage person will not know the difference between a scanner and a radio. this i know.

if the kid wants to play im sure he will, weather its a real radio or a scanner. he only has to be aware of the scanner laws of his state.

With the HT1000, you can literally program anything between 403-512.

It's called the "Shift Key Trick" in the software.

Hold down the shift key while you program, and wala...instant open 403-512. So it doesn't really matter all to much when doing this.

That trick isn't realy going to do him any good if he buys a 403-470 HT1000. He's trying to monitor a frequency in the 508 MHz range. 38 MHz out of band is too far and will not work (receive).

Actually, I've done it before for RX only in my are and it worked as well as my S split HT1k, but TX would probably suck if I'dve tried it I would imagine.

I have everything he needs LESS the 450-520 split RF deck. I can't find it anywhere around here.

I have a very nice HT1000 housing
New back plate
New seals
New knobs
Internal shield
Controller
Jumper link
Orange button
Triangle battery insulator
Jumper support
