Programming help for a BCD 536HP in Toronto

Guys I have a BCD 536HP and a paid subscription to here, also Freescan . I have tried to upload a few things from Ontario but nothing is really working or catching anything .

Can someone please help me?

I'm just after Fire, EMS, TTC, and OPP. Other things would be fun too ,but I need to know how to program. I don't know, I can't do it.

Freescan is not used for programming a BCD 536HP. Use the built-in Sentinel program for your scanner.
In the menu, make sure all the Service types are selected and listen to the Full Database. An outdoor antenna will help, too.
You can hear even more with DMR and NXDN upgrades, if business type communications are your interest.

TTC cannot be monitored with the 536. Very few receivers can modulate TETRA communications.

Some one may have a TFD .hpd file for you. This would give you TFD and EMS.

I recommend either the Butel software or Proscan software. Both of these makes customizing your scan lists a lot easier. Both can be tested in a demo mode so you can see which one you like. I have both. Proscan is great for remote control of the scanner.

Would I require DMR and NXDN to hear additional OPP and fire channels? Is this upgrade worth it?
I understand I do it through Uniden website. Will it unlock it in my unit?
Is there to check if my unit already has this ?

No for the upgrades for OPP and Toronto Fire. The scanner does P25 as is.
To check if you have DMR and NXDN upgrades, Got to MENU, scroll to Settings,press Enter, scroll to Upgrade, press Enter.

Select the DMR or NXDN upgrade. If it's there, it will show that it has already been done, if not, you will have to enter the keys you will have to pay $80 Canadian each for them.

I think you will find that having a favorite list with just the stuff you want will be a lot better than using the general Sentinel files.

My suggestion is make 4 Motorola trunked systems. Program them with the 4 Toronto sites. Add 2 departments for each site (you can copy the department contents). The first department add in all the TFD TG. The second add in all the EMS TG. To scan select the Toronto site that is best located for you and lock out the others. finally listen to the calls and lock out the TG that are of no immediate interest.

Eventually if you get the DMR and/or the NXDN options you can create other systems for DMR users and NXDN users.

I spent this Saturday evening with the poster here. We programmed the Mowat tower for FleetNet by hand.

Everyone knows how hard this is, but my man here did it perfectly as per instructions. He did an amazing job!!

I don't have a BCD 996P2 and I haven't used Freescan in 10 yrs. When the original poster asks for help I ask you guys who know Freescan and a BCD 996P2 to help him out. Send him systems . . . etc.

Really, he did an amazing job and I would be grateful if when he asks for help that you help him as well.
