• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

    Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

    If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

    To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

    The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

    For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

    This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Just realized that the original post is almost a year old now. Kinda looks like that my post is not all that timely and relevant any longer. Sorry for the untimely post.
Not untimely at all. I just purchased the UHF 100Watt version. I have poked around and read for a while on this radio and have what is more than likely a dumb question; These radios can be programmed to use CTCSS, right?

In "Motorola" terms, CTCSS is referred to as "PL" for "Private Line". Just their nomenclature for the Continuous Tone Coded Squelch System.

DPL = Digital Private Line.

All the same, just different names.

It wont work on W10. Also doesn't like USB DB9 adapters. This is OLD stuff. I use a W95 machine with native 9 pin and reliably program our SAR radios.
I use an USB to Serial Adapter cable with a Prolific driver to the RIB and a Bluemax 49er Cable from the RIB to the Radio, on my XP 32-Bit Windows computer.

@mmckenna @N4KVL Thank you Gentlemen. I ended up installing Virtual Box then using Windows Vista 32 Bit with a Bluemax49er cable. No issues programming now.

My 25hz attenuator has apparently been tuned wrong in the Tuner Software. That one is more daunting for my skill level. Having issues with the radio picking up weaker signals. Can't get the squelch settings just right. I'll keep plugging away.

Why would you need to install a virtual box on a Vista 32-bit Operating system to run the MCS2000 CPS? You should have been able to run the CPS straight on the Vista 32-bit system and program the radio. Vista was nothing more than an enhanced XP operating system with some security fixes. I had no issues with my Vista using the MCS2000 CPS
