• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

First of all, I apologize if this a repeated msg from other users. I tried to find answers prior to writing this post.

I have a BF-F8HP. I found the NOAA weather channel on the NOAA site. It uses 162.550. I would like to program this into my channels to save me from having to remember it.

I'm in Frequency Mode, I enter 162.550. Now I select menu and press 27. I press menu and enter 01. It appears as 001 (not CH-001) which I understand to mean its clear to save in that channel. I press menu again.

I DO NOT hear "confirm". I hear a very high beep. When I go into channel mode, channel 01 is not show up when scrolling through the channels. So it looks like it has not saved the NOAA frequency.

I see some tutorials about having to set TRX mode. But I wont be transmitting anything, just listening. So I am little confused what I need to do.

Thnx
Matt

You must use the top line in Freq. Mode. If you use the bottom line the freq. will not be saved.

So I checked. I am on the top band when I attempt to save the frequency. For kicks and giggles, I pressed the A/B switch two times (first moved arrow to bottom frequency and second back to the first frequency.

Part 2:
For a test, I changed my top frequency to an empty frequency of 162.450. I was able to save this.

So I am really confused. Why can I save a empty frequency but I cannot save the NOAA frequency?

It can't be saved to a channel that has a freq. already in it. You need to use Menu item 28 to clear a channel before putting in a new freq.
