So can’t use Proscan to program a sds100?
You can use ProScan with the SDS100 when programming.

Sentinel is required for database updates as well as accessing any firmware updates. You can program systems manually with Sentinel. Besides programming manually, you can append systems from the main database to a Favorites list. But in the case of larger regional, or statewide systems (province in Canada), appending a system also pulls every site associated with the system during the append process. You can carefully select one or more Departments to append, but the initial append will still flood your Favorites list with every site affiliated with the system.

ProScan lets you create a system manually. But, since you are a Premium Subscriber, you can use ProScan to import only the parts of a given system that you want. You can include only the sites for a trunk system that are in your area, as well as any combination of Departments and Channels. Unlike Sentinel, you are not forced to accept every single site related to your system. Pick & import only the ones you want.

With Proscan don't select mass storage first select the other option the scanner display should show up on proscan screen
Once that is showing then go to write to scanner and click on send MSM command. wait for it to connect to the scanner before clicking ok

Other than Sentinel being necessary for things mentioned, ProScan has a lot more features.

While a little extra work, if I edit a Favorites List in Sentinel, I will switch to ProScan and read my scanner. Vice Versa applies too.

Proscan offers much than Sentinel but Sentinel is needed for firmware and database updates. Display customization can be done on scanner but easier using Sentinel.
ive had proscan for 3 years and i have never been able to get it to work. just emailed Bob yesterday for my product key to try again for the 16th time. ive been trying now for 3 = hours. this is ridiculous. does anyone live in or near kokomo, indiana that could come over and show me what i'm doing wrong

Maybe try ARC 536? I have used ARC-XT to program my BCD996P2 and it works fine for me. I have been investigating maybe buying a SDS200 so I tried the Proscan software. Maybe because I was used to it but I found the ARC-XT software to be easier to use.

I have not tried the ARC 536 but if it like the ARC-XT it might help.

How can one confirm that a cable is data capable?
Attach cable to computer, plug into SDS, if the Mass Storage option pops up on screen on scanner, it's a data capable cable. If the screen doesn't change it isn't data capable.

That's how I checked all of mine, then used a paint pen to mark the data capable ones.

Years back, I used proscan for my BCT15X, and liked it. Never really figured it out but fun to play with.
Since then, my PC burned up, lost everything. Same thing this month. restoring from backups,I re installed proscan, but stuck with demo. tried logging in to proscan, no record of my account, so looks like I have to pay again.
This recent thing had me back playing with my scanner, even updated firmware. Some things I hate I want to change
are there is still precanned junk in this I want to delete and rebuild my own configuration. I don't see a way with proscan,
would sentinal be able to tackle this?

Why don't you send me an email? Lost keys are handled via email only.

I want to delete and rebuild my own configuration.
If you're refering to the profile. ProScan can do it.

Use both. You will absolutely need Sentinel for HPDB n' F/W updates. While using Proscan for overall scanner operations. Read the Proscan Manual on creating Systems, Sites, and Favorite lists.
