Now that my poor old pro 107 has gone deaf, can anyone make an educated guess as to how long it might be before we know if they are going to encrypt? I am willing to pop for a digital scanner but a $600 brick would be hard to swallow, with or without hot sauce.

Don't bother... listen from openmhz.com

You can always buy the BCD325P2 --> https://a.co/d/cHD7cA8
Or the BCD996P2 --> https://a.co/d/hZy3T8I

Roughly $350 + tax

Programming software is free or you can do it by hand... would take about 15 minutes. If you really want the channel labels then that would take longer of course.

Until we find out what is or is not going to be encrypted, for me buying any scanner is out of the question. Listening to planes, trains and automobiles is not my thing.

I am noting (after not hearing the agency for a couple hours on KCERS) that Federal Way has transitioned to PSERN today. A MONUMENTAL improvement in reception with the absence of the static and intermittent signal losses that typified Federal Way reception here in NE Tacoma! I am not sure which other agencies may have made the transition due to issues getting the databases updated via the Uniden Sentinel software. Anyone else confirming agencies that have made the transition? If so, what might be the quality of the signal?

ive done some road testing and i can kinda give you a ballpark. going north my signal drops at around mile post 217ish. going south i have only tested and heard down into tillicum area just outside of jblm. signal there at a friends house is good enough to be heard. i havent checked east or west yet on trips.

I had another swath of TGID's pop up on the SDR this morning. I got about 20 or so TGID's in the 300-400 range. Only 2 of them have a lot of activity noted on them so far, but most are just 1 hit. So will keep an eye on what is coming up or getting ready to come online.

Most of the items that I cross checked with using multiple 16 rule fall under Seattle Public Works such as, Parks, Seatran, Seattle Center, etc.

Hey all I just purchased a BCD996P2 along with ARC pro software. I’m in Auburn Wa trying to get PSERN loaded. Is the new P25 system one frequency trunk or standard? Do I select all sites and frequencies or just the one closest to me? Also with the ARC software I’m under the impression that I should be able to just plug in USB cable from scanner to PC, download frequencies from RR and be good.
PSERN should be programmed as P25 Standard. You will need to install the attached driver to use a USB cable with the front connector. You can install all of the sites and use system quick keys to select the site or sites you wish to scan. The first file is the driver. The second PDF file will answer all of your questions about using quick keys.

Good morning, I noticed in the Database Admin side of things this morning that there are a few duplicate talkgroups in this system. Can I get some help cleaning this up?

Warning: There are duplicate talkgroups defined for this system (1243,3933,3935,3937,3939)

Thanks!
Ben

Sorry I won't be helping you here -- unless/until RR supports allowing ANY user to sort ALL TGIDs (by number) into a full list.
