Look at the very top above the first post of the page under the tab THREAD TOOLS.

I had looked there but I realize now that I was not logged in at the time and the SUBSCRIBE option did not show. Now while logged in the subscribe or unsubscribe is there.

I've searched the manual a few times but can't seem to find a way to divide talkgroup or conventional objects into "groups" smaller than a scanlist. If true, this seems a little odd and a bit of a step backward.

For conventional channels, it looks like we're stuck with the 20 scan lists, but that's still better than the 10 on the PRO96.

There is good news if there is more than one trunked system on a scanlist. I believe that if you lock out a TSYS object, it shuts down all associated TGRP objects. Bringing systems in and out would be more cumbersome than with lots of hot buttons, but the radio's organization might make it less necessary than you anticipate.

My own plan is to put a lot of obscure or low-traffic systems together in a couple of scan lists, and let larger systems have their own individual lists.

For future models, it might be good to simply ask for more scan lists. This would allow more individual storage of systems, creation of custom service searches, and who knows what else...

I sent GRE America an email asking about the availability of programming software, but I never got a response back from them.

Can someone else ask GRE if programming software - either GRE or third party - will be available when the scanner is released? I once programmed a PRO-95 by hand, and swore I would never do that again :p

Thanks,

Warren

Scan List Tag?

Just scanned (n/p/i) the new manual and see no provision to alpha-tag scan lists.

So, you could have 20 untagable lists, if I'm not missing something.

That's a lot of remembering... and since objects can be members of several scan lists, I can't see any way to eliminate carrying around a "scan list" cheat sheet.

Any ideas beyond this, please?

What's "n/p/i"?

EDIT: no pun intended

I was wondering the same thing re: tagging scan lists. I guess it's impractical to enable/disable them on the screen if tagged because all 20 have to be visible while scanning as shown on pg. 23 and pg. 42 of the manual. So the tags could exist "internally" for reference while programming but you'd still have to remember them when toggling scanning on or off.

I know scan lists can be aliased but I don't recall where I read it or how it looks. But you can.

Thanks for the tip, RN44!

pg 57 leads to a line in the Glob Parameter table on pg 97 (5th element from the bottom).

That parameter is "Scan Lists"

SEL = enter sub menu for Scan List settings and status.

The implication on pg 57 is you can find an element in this sub menu that will allow associating an alpha tag with the list number... which, if valid, is just what we are looking for.

I will try to find a reference to elements in the Glob "Scan Lists" sub menu, and how the alpha tag is used (i.e. shows in some way during scanning, such as shows when one of its channels is monitored, or just shows when you are associating an object with various scan lists)

OK. I have a Uniden 330,396 and Radio Shack/GRE Pro96. I have read the manual and am just seeking clarification..... Please bear with me because I am not sure I interpretted things correctly:
So, I have 1,800 Objects in each V folder, is that correct?.... Each folder allows me scan lists of 20?.....Is that right?.... Whatever my active system is at the time I can draw from or assemble up to 20 scan lists out of any identified "objects" anywhere in the memory?.....

Yes, 1800 objects per V-folder.

Yes, 20 lists (plus the Skywarn, Favorites, etc.) per V-folder

Your third question isn't completely clear, but see if this helps. You can map any of the 1800 objects in your ACTIVE MEMORY to any combination of scan lists that you like.

But remember that the V-files work just like on the PRO-96. Each represents a complete programming for the scanner's active memory, so you can't draw selected bits from them into active memory as you would in an AR8200.

Does that clarify?

There's some menu options that sound pretty interesting like:

Audioboost
Dwell
Supertrack

And I specially like:

Multi-Site (Off, Stat, Roam)

How many systems uses NACs within Talkgroups?
Huh? Trunked systems or? All P25 voice channels in a trunked system will send a NAC but they are completely independent of talkgroups and any forms of organization. The NAC would consist of part of the system ID and the connect tone. As far as trunking is concerned you will not be concerned with NACs and trunked systems. The only time you will is if you're searching and happen upon a P25 channel.

If conventional, TGs more fall under NACs. A NAC will always be programmed directly in to the repeater whereas conventional P25 talkgroups are a feature on the subscriber radio side. The repeater could care less. It's up to the radio to distinguish them and act appropriately (mute or unmute).

Hi All,
Just a few questions.

1. Is there a limit to the number of scan lists that an object can be mapped to?

2. If an object is mapped to more than one scan list, how do you access the object ID directly?

3. Is a wildcard TGRP object similar to having a bank set to open on a Pro-96?

Thanks,
Rich

The more I read the manual, the more I like. I have programmed previous handhelds by hnd in the past but if the software is available prior to, or at the time of release, I am there. Especially for objects I want across some V folders. If the digital audio is anything like the Pro 96 then I will really be happy.

Lets see........12 to 14 days until release?....Countdown is on!

1) No
2) Its object ID number
3) Yes.
