I agree, I'd like to see alternating colors too.

At one time, I thought the LED thingy was a big deal and pretty neat - all that stuff.

At this point - three weeks into it? I've disabled the LED for all but one TG on one system... it's just something else to draw the batteries down...

But that's just me....

I know what you guys are getting at with that request. You just want your personal blue/red cop style lights.... ;)

I've changed my LED blink times to 1 (on) and 49 (off). When blinking, it's on for 10 mS of every 500. I'm not worried about my batteries.

Yeah, I don't use it for everything. It kind of defeats the purpose in my opinion. I like it for Wildcard new TGs, special talkgroups and frequencies, etc. Coupled with the sound alert and is great to know when those "elusive" users are talking. ;)

LED's draw damn near nothing... the volume setting has far more impact on battery life.

You could do a lot with seven defined colors and the ability to alternate two or more. My brother saw my PSR-500 and was his idea, and he doesn't even own one...

I think it would be cool. You could run down the hall saying citizens arrest, citizens arrest...

I was thinking it would be great to have it alternate for a patch ID or mutual aid frequency.

Yeah so in the begining, I did that too (LED and sound for new TGs appear with the wildcard)... the bad thing seemed to be that when I hit STOR when that happened, it created a new entry for that TGID with the same settings as the wildcard (they all started alerting and lighting).

Has anyone figured out a way to have the new TG to be saved without storing it with the save extra settings (other than entering it manually or going back later and changing the STORd TGID)? I'm assuming this isn't possible.

You'd have to either change the WC TGRP so that it didn't include the alert settings or, when you want to store the newly-found TGRP, press FUNC+Stor (F3) to get into the new object's menu so you can change its settings before it's actually saved.

How about an EDACS patch ID like the Uniden units where the display alternates between the patch TG and the channel names that are patched together.
I agree with you on this one, would like to see the patch TG as well.

instead of displaying the voice channel when receiving a transmission, display the control channel it is using. yes i know if you press manual, then you can see what cc it is on when there is no transmission, but the other way helps alot more. similar to what the pro96 does. at least give the option to have one or the other displayed. :) thaaanks.

EDIT: thinking about it, the pro 96 i think displays the voice channel too, but since each freq (cc) is named, you can easily see which cc it is using. so itd be nice to have some way of looking at a glance which cc it is coming from. or name the freqs and display that.

Up front apology here. I haven't followed this thread all that closely so it may alreday be mentioned. If so, so sorry.

I have two issues.

1. When I have the scanner set to scan a single scanlist and I press MAN. The scanner does not always stop on frequency or talk group in that scan list. I think if I am scanning a single list, pressing manual should stop the scanner in that scan list, not another one.

2. When I press PGM and then EDIT in a scanlist (I am tweaking a couple of my lists), the scanner does not open the scanlist I was stopped on, rather it goes to the entire list and I have to scroll down to the one I want. I think when editing a list, it should be the one that is opened (or at least be the default one to be selected).

An easier way to check battery status than PROG/GLOB/several down arrows/select.
Well, there's the battery icon on the LCD (off, solid, or blinking with an alert beep), as well as your radio powering off.

My Firmware wish:

First off, I love the radio - thank you GRE!

When putting multiple towers/control channels in a single system. There is really no easy way to tell which tower you are listening too. Here would be an easy way to tell. If this could be impremented in a future firmware upgrade I don't know.

When you hit "TSYS" and then "Analyz" the radio always takes you to the first channel in the system you have programmed. What if the radio automatically took you to the active control frequency instead? You would then see the system ID and can figure out which tower you are listening to.

As it stands now, you have to thumb thru the channels and find the control channel. When you are dealing with many towers that are within your receive range you still don't know for sure which one you are listening too.

I know with the upgrade just released if you have the "show CC info" option on it now blinks the channel number. This is a good start, but you still have to remember what your channel numbers are.

Control Channel

Jeff,

Hit man when an active TG comes up and wait till the TG stops transmitting and watch for the tower slot number in the upper right of the screen. Then go to sys and scroll to the slot number that was displayed.

Not as easy as your suggestion but it is in there.

Better yet, install CPU U0.2 (released today), enable the "ShowCCInfo" item in the GLOB menu, and watch the CC ## and frequency alternate with the VC frequency.

EDIT: there doesn't seem to be much more that the radio could give us besides the CC frequency and the location where the user stored that frequency in the TSYS. Something like the "site ID" would be nice, but I sure wouldn't want my radio delaying voice comms so that it can get that site ID from the CC.
