Something that would be nice if they add it is:

After loading a v-folder, having an F key function to hit for rebooting or have the radio automatically reboot after you load the v-folder.
It does reboot when you "leave" V-Scanner mode, doesn't it? I've found the "don't reboot immediately" feature useful a couple of times, after I'd loaded the wrong folder.

Yes, it does reboot after you get out of V-Scanner mode.

However, I guess I was trying to make it more fool-proof so to speak because after it's finished loading, it gives you 2 choices which are the same ones you started with: "Cancl" and "Load". Judging by how some people have problems just loading a trunked systems, at this point they might be wondering: "Did it load?" "What now?". So they might figure out to hit "Cancl", now they're back to the main V-Scanner menu and they'll ask: "How do I get out since there's no exit or reboot choice?"

See what I'm trying to anticipate? ;)

For my own purposes, I don't care much if it stays as it is. Like I said, just trying to make it as "user-friendly" as possible....

They must be jumping back to the top of the select call. They should jump to a new select or drop out. I can see the problems coming

The folder number is displayed during loading so as Don stated, if one realizes they got the wrong folder ya get a second chance prior to reboot. I like it this way...not that anyone sitting here makes any mistakes.

It also lets you re-arrange V-Folders without rebooting.

I can see now there's more advantages to how it's already setup.

I've read the section on V-Scanner on the manual pages 83-85. I didn't see it but maybe they need to add in the instructions on how to use the V-Scanner that after it's loading or saving, you can press MAN or any key for the scanner to go back to normal operation.

Like I said, it's not me I'm thinking about..... ;)

My only desires:

1. Fix the digital decoding issues (this goes without saying).
2. Ability to have sub banks for trunking systems, similar to the groups setup on a BCD396T.
3. Have more than 20 scan lists. 50 at least, 99 would be better.
4. Ability to display I-Call radio ID's in either hex or decimal format.

Would like hit counts to work on Wildcards (open mode).
Enable hit count and it will only tell you total hits.
Would love listing of TGID's with hits.....maybe a software fuction?

If I understand your request correctly, you're asking to have the radio keep track of hit counts from each individual TG that pops up while using Wildcard?

I don't see how it's possible to keep track of hit counts on TGs that are not programmed unless they can have the radio automatically save new TGs and start keeping count, otherwise, with computer software is the only way I could see it happening....

I thought we had that already, under GLOB settings we have TGID Format: Normal, Hex or Decimal. Also, when you go to enter one, it gives you an F3 softkey option to switch to HEX or DEC right there.

Or is that not what you're referring to?

Maybe I missed this but how about a GLOBAL menu that allows for GLOBAL squelch control of the LCD/Keypad back light like the 396. It's not practical having to program each object with activity controlled backlighting.

You don't have to program each object. Just the first one in each group of "related" objects. Then you use the DUPE feature.

Right, but what if I want to turn that function off quickly for everything to conserve battery?

Guess I should just try it and see what I can come up with.

Allw entry of the SystemID for a trunked system, especailly wide area systems. I travel quite a bit and have trunked systems using same freqs in different areas.

Allow us to control the object order so channel plans are easier to enter and navigate with the up/down button.

SysID

Russell,

I had this concern too (entering SYSID for multi-site usage). Where I am located there are "outside" systems which are compatible Motorola system types (and so cannot be screened out via system type setting) and use some of the same frequencies for control channels as the wide area system I usually listen to. Occasionally, my 96 would lock onto the "foreign" system and try to scan it. It seems to me that putting an entry in the 500/600's TSYS menu somewhere for desired SYSID would be prudent and should not be too difficult to realize via a firmware update since the unit does decode the SYSID anyway - at least for analysis purposes. I hesitated to bring this up earlier as I was afraid it might be misunderstood and, now, given the decoding issues, there are bigger problems that need to be addressed first. Nonetheless, I, for one, am glad I am not the only one thinking of the "foreign system" issue.

I thought I had read in an earlier thread that I-Call radio ID's could only be displayed in hex format, unlike group ID's. I have not actually looked into this myself.

Request the ability to set up a Wildcard (SEARCH) object that has a LED and/or audible alert that, when I push STOR, it DOES NOT store the LED setting and/or audible setting with the new object (I just want to be alerted when a NEW TG is found - not the ones I already STORed).
