PSR 800 fiirmware

I have a Uniden BCD536 and a GRE PSR 800 and have been making backup micro SD cards for both. The Uniden has a firmware folder on the card that contains the latest (or a preferred rollback version) of the firmware. Does the PSR 800 store the firmware on the card or is it applied directly to and is resident in the radio?

May be a few days before I am back on RR so thanks in advance for all replies!

Firmware on the 800 is in the radio and not on the SD card.

On your PSR800 software you can make an archive of your setup .. that is all you need.

Thanks for the replies guys. On the Uniden BCD536 the firmware is on the card and since I am using a rollback firmware version I have a copy of it on my backup card. Was wondering if I need to do the same for my PSR800 backup card.

For my PSR800 backup card I use a card reader and use the write to scanner/card function on the EZ Scan software. Edmscan you mention making an archive of my setup....is this function the way to making this archive or is there another step involved?

Open the PSR800 EzScan software .. File / Save to Archive.

Thanks edmscan....I have saved an archive file onto my laptop. I assume this file contains all the radio settings and the scan lists as well? Also could I save a copy of this archive.zip on my backup micro SD card or would the radio stumble on this file (i. e. the radio would only want to see the scan list info and not the zip file) if I had to use my backup card in the radio?

I would save this file on your computer not your scanner.

Thanks for the response edmscan....was thinking about a worst case scenario where I lose the computer hard drive. Suppose I could copy this archive file onto a thumb drive or another card. Another thread mentions using the optimize feature on the EZ scan software to write the scanner card's data to the computer hard drive to remove any empty space in the file structure then writing back out to the scanner. Have you any experience in using this feature?
