PSR-800: PSR-800 won't scan

What model are we talking about? The topic heading says PSR 800 but the replies say 600. I have a PSR 800 sitting on my desk and it does use a micro SD card which is often the cause of problems. You will need the latest version of EZ Scan as the sd card has to be formatted through the program and not the normal computer formatting procedure.
The OP was mistaken. He does have a PSR 800. I have one going now as well.

The OP had originally tagged this thread with 600 as the model he was asking about, and the first replies were for the 600. But then the OP realized that he had a PSR800, and KevinC changed the tag and the title on the thread to reflect that. See posts # 7 & 8.
As I previously stated before, my brother programed it for my area and agencies that I want scanned. Now that he has passed on, I no longer have his expertise. Your questions for the most are beyond my minimal comprehension. What are your thoughts of the Whistler WS1040 Hand Held. They have a few good UTube tutorials on programming the unit. Other wise maybe I should pursue a new hobby such as weaving baskets. I think I would be good at that. Ken

WS1040 is just as complicated to program to some...it also doesn't have any way to do DMR.
I'm using the PSR-800 now and it's a good scanner. The WS1040 will will only pickup P25 phase 1 and nothing on phase 2 if that happens to be in your area. However your 800 will as well as TDMA which is pretty well used where I am for State Troopers. That being said, we still don't know where you are located (State, City, county) so we can determine what you will be able to listen to and what your unit can be programmed for. Once we know that we might be able to help you out. Your SD might need to be re-formatted and the database restored but that's not too difficult.

Never got an answer on if it is a legacy upgraded WS-1080, hacked WS-1080,, or a virgin PSR-800 either. Or, am I not seeing this correctly? Did the 'hack' apply for the PSR-800 as well as the Pro-668?

The hack or legacy upgrade doesn't matter unless they bricked it..

That's why I asked what he sees on the display. We need to know if it is scanning or stuck on the CPU firmware update screen. We also need to know if the scanner has been upgraded to determine the proper firmware updater to use if it is required.
OK, I'll try again. With the old card inserted, The unit turns on OK with the menu displayed. As soon as I hit scan the screen freezes.. If I go to the library, it shows everything that I have entered. When trying to retrieve those entries , it says nothing their. Just want to thank everyone for their time and effort. I believe it's time to close this thread down. as I see it going nowhere due to my incompetence and inability to comprehend your questioning

Can you post a video of this booting up and when it errors? Sounds like the data on the cards is corrupt or the cards themselves are bad. to fix I would put the card in a card reader, use windows drive error fixer, the when that finishes, use ezscan to prepare the card and put your configuration and library data back on the card. then reinsert the card in the scanner and try to reboot it....report back.

When you start to scan, does the display say Nothing to Scan? If so, you may not have a Scan Set enabled containing the scan lists you wish to scan.

Does this mean Nothing to Scan? I repeatedly asked the OP for what exactly was showing on the display and he refused to answer my questions. It's kind of difficult to help someone who refuses to cooperate. The OP appears to state that the frequencies or talkgroups are in the scanner. If they cannot be scanned, they are not assigned to a scan list or a scan set containing those scan lists is not enabled. Usually, you get a Heap Error if talkgroups are not associated with a trunked system but we wouldn't know that if he doesn't tell us.
