Which is a hop, skip and a jump across DFW from Uniden USA HQs........... Just a coincidence, I'm sure...
Let's see...........
Uniden is just off the south end of DFW Airport.........
.........and Coppell is just off the north end.

Was a cargo door open when an air freighter was on final approach?

I should have added that since these are apparently shipping Priority Mail, if they are dropped off at most any Post Office in the DFW area, tracking will show Coppell as the origination point. The regional USPS processing center is located there.

Uniden

Does anyone think it's funny Uniden reads all the posts here and you get answers all the time. But for some reason Uniden is not comenting at all about this. Maybe there looking in to this and not saying anything till they get to the bottom of this just knowing the Hp1 really can't sell for $300.00 and someone make money on them. Something is still not right in Denmark. or (FWT)

Any coment about this UPMan what does Uniden think about all this.

These are not being sold by Uniden. We are investigating the source of the units (since the prices are far below cost), but have no direct knowledge of whether these are legit or not.

Thank You

Thanks Paul as always if your name is brought up you do give a very quick responce. And you said just what I was implying that Uniden was probably looking in to this but hasent responded to this thread untill there name was brought in to the conversation. Most likely someone has to much money or there kinda warm im thinking.

UPMan,

Did I read a quote from you in another thread that there is no such thing as a "grey market" Uniden scanner?

That was the first thing I thought of when I saw the price.

Thanks Paul. Mine is out for delivery so I should have it in a couple hours. Assume I can check the serial number with Uniden to ensure it's legit. If not, the seller does have a 3 day return and I would be out the shipping. First and foremost I want a legit unit. Secondly, I want the best deal. :)

Will let you all know how it goes.

Dave: I am sending you a PM.

Bob: Since we don't require sales through "authorized dealers" the term grey market doesn't really apply to our sales channel.

I wonder if you got one of these and tried to update it through Uniden, and it wasn't legit, would it send up some kind of red flag, or deny the update to let the buyer know there is a problem. Maybe a "Please call Uniden at this number" type of message, to stop things like this from happening?

Well folks, I've received mine and it looks in good order. Shipping packaging was fine and the HP-1 box looks ok (except for one small crumple on one corner). Everything inside appears packed from the factory in separate plastic sleaves and the unit itself has a separate protective piece of plastic over the display area.

Haven't had a chance to set it up and turn it on yet. So far so good...

I hope there's nothing fishy for the sellers sake but some sold for 270.00!!I would imagine that there's not a legit retailer anywhere that could mark one that low and not lose money. The funny thing is his prices varied from real low to 480.00?Kinda weird i must say..

Folks, I spent about 8 minutes plugging it in, installing the software on the PC and it then downloaded the new firmware. Once that was done I entered the personal info and zip code and started listening for about 3 minutes. Started getting local fire and sheriff calls. I'm in a walkout basement with the supplied antenna and the audio was crisp. Kinda surprised I was getting a signal down here on the supplied antenna based on what I've read elsewhere!

So far so good!

I certainly hope so. Mine came today and there is no question in my mind that it's "brand new in box".

Installed batteries and it's charging right now.

God willing, all is good!
