• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Hi guys,
I'm looking at a UHF quantar repeater here (model T5365A), and I'm wondering what programming software is used and if it's possible to purchase a copy of it from somewhere. To be clear, this is not a "I want a free/cracked cps" request. Anybody have any ideas? Should I maybe just stay away from this repeater all together? I've seen these programmed via a windows XP computer with some kind of software with a GUI, so I don't think it's the DOS RSS.

Thanks,
E

To clarify, Quantar Radio Service Software, despite the name "RSS" is Windows XP/2000/7/10 based. As advised, Motorola Solutions is where it is obtained from legally. I service my Quantars using a GETAC B300 Windows 10 laptop (i5 3470 IIRC).

There is a guy on Ebay that occasionally sells many versions of Motorola programming software and he claims to be legit. Most of his software is around $30 to $40 and I've seen Quantar listed in the past.

Thanks @mikewazowski I'll research more on that. @prcguy you wouldn't happen to know the name of that seller would you?

I'll check on MS, but I figured they wouldn't still sell the software for something older like this. Thanks all

I don't see them advertising this week and don't recall their name but the Ebay ad usually has a picture of a CD with Motorola stuff written on it.

mts2000, Is your laptop a 32bit? I tried to run rss 14.xx on a windows 7 laptop 64 bit and it wont run.
I have a new toughbook with windows 10 64 bit but I have not tried it yet.

I use a Windows 8.1 32 bit tablet to run RSS R14.11.00. I have not tried to run it on 64 bit Windows 10 computers. Thanks for saving me the trouble of trying.

Alright thanks folks, just placed an order from ebay. Seller claims these are genuine, still in factory shrink wrap, so hopefully I'll be fine.
