Cloning

How about cloning for the BR250 (aka HYT HT-610)?

I have some BR250's from Discount TwoWay Radio. If I have a HT-610 that I can program, shouldn't I be able to clone the BR250's using the HT-610 as the master, thus bypassing the password placed by Discount Two Way? Or, if I get another BR250 from Discount with a different programming set, shouldn't I be able to clone it?

Got my hands on a BR-250 in VHF 136-174. It is basically an HYT model TC-610V-2-BLK with a different faceplate and an upgraded 2000 mAh Li-ion. The other (disappointing) difference is the spacing of the mic and speaker jacks. They are spaced so that a HYT serial port programming cable for the 610 (PC23) will not fit. I am sure this is where the programming is accessed because I looked into the input jacks on the radio and they are 3-conductor. My guess is that RCA purposely did this so the HYT cable would not fit, along with the accessories. I don't know if modifying the cable to fit (splitting the hard spacing to two separate mic and speaker lines) would work using the HYT programming software, but that may possibly be my next quest.

The radio works great and I hit the repeater with a clear transmit and receive from about 5.5 miles.

Codeplug Password for BR250

I am using the Hytera 620 software with my BR250 and it looks like it should be able to read, but the password 31010 that was posted earlier does not work. Does anyone have more information on how I can get it? Obviously the company doesn't really want to give it out. Thanks!

Discount TwoWay Radios

My apologies for stepping in on this post but I have 12 of these BR250 radios and I actually have ordered the cables to try the suggestions above but My next question is Discount 2-way also Sells these HT850 Radios does anyone know who makes these or where I may can start looking to purchase the software and cables needed for these because I have 18 of them also. I know the speaker Mics will interchange with both of these radios so I am assuming the cable will possibly work but what about the Software They were purchased before I was Hired in But yet Ive been put in charge of handling and syncing with our new TK-3360's. We had to swap frequencies on the Kenwoods because they were interfereing with another business in town and I need to change the HT's and the BR's.

Any help would be great because of course Discount Two Way is not being too helpful.

i am also looking for software needed to program an RCA br-250. any help would be greatly appreciated.

I found the software for the BR-250 is compatible with the HYT TC-610 as others have said and can be found here for a free download.

Applied for a business license on a different frequency. Now need to program the radios for that new frequency. BR-250U from DiscountDirtbags.com, using HT610E with the proper cable. Getting the Error Radio model prompt. Is there a reason why? The model software matches the model on the back of the radio 1.03.11

I have 32 of these things to program.

Ok gang,

I will tell you the HYT-HT610E software is what you need to program these as well as the HYT PC19 programming cable works fine. Now, I am the one who needs help on this part:

The idiots at Discount Radio refuse to give me their password they stuck on the radio to read and overwrite the existing codeplug. As stupid as it sounds, they have added to (write too) password to block overwriting the existing info that is in the radio.

Does anyone know the password or am I going to have to spend several hours plastering over Winhex/Hex Edit all to put that info out on the net for all to see? I hate companies like this and I am tired of playing cat and mouse with trying to program a radio.

At least now I have confirmed what a lot of others needed to know, now I wuold like some help on my end please

I went through the same garbage with them, I have several for a customer that now will have to send them back to these clowns to get them to work on the updated systems, told them to get Icom from now on, I tested 2 of the 250's with range and they didnt do as well as I thought they would, my beofengs worked better for tx and rx in the same test bed.

The Hytera site wouldnt let me download it without a password. They style cord I used was a moto 2 pin to usb.

The only issue I had was finding a driver for the cable but windows helped me know which one I was looking for. After a little searching I found one that worked.

The password that worked with my radio was 31010.

I'm having the same issue you had here with my BR-250. Were you ever able to come up with a resolution? I was using the HT610E software but was wondering if your link was for a different software? I never got past the "Error Radio Model Name" issue.

Any help would be appreciated. If you still have that link, could you send that to me as well?

I actually got sick and tired of dealing with them and bought boafengs. They were cheap and have been extremely reliable this far. I bought a few extras in case they broke. Saved myself slot of time aggregation. I do have 5 of the rca's that are programmable if you want them. I'll make you a great deal

Bringing an old thread back from the dead... I have a new customer that has about 50 of these that I need to reprogram for a pair of repeaters we installed for them. Sending all 50 of them back to discounttwo-way seems a little ridiculous..

The HYT website requires an account to download the software -- does anyone have a link they can send for the HYT software that works with these?

A pinout for the programming cable would also be handy if available, on the off-chance I already have one that is pinned out the same..

For those of you still following this thread...

I was able to get my hands on the Hytera software and bought a cheap cable on eBay.

I had two of the BR250U radios from my customer, one of them worked just fine with the software as-is and the 31010 password worked.

The other gave the "Error Radio Model Name"

After some serial port "sniffing" between the two radios and some modification to the configuration files, I was able to modify the settings to get it it read both radios, however, the newer radios have a different password.

I tried a few different obvious choices (Their zip code, parts of the phone number, etc), however, I wasn't able to find one that worked.

SO, if anyone happens to know what password they started using after 31010, that would be great!
