Clearly the database here has yet to be updated with all of the sites frequencies.

Due to my location I am out of range of the NG North Simulcast despite having a good copy of the RCS north transmitters. I do however have almost acceptable reception of the West simulcast site despite what I am guessing is only partial implementation of the frequencies at this time. I am picking up traffic on 7 frequencies, 2 of which require application of a filter to receive anything at all and marginal at that so unfortunately I am missing traffic because of that. Since I see many more frequencies on the license I assume the rest will fire up as more agencies are transitioned over, or hopefully I am not out of range of receiving these other frequencies.

Does anyone else monitoring the West simulcast have activity on any frequencies other than those that I am receiving at this time listed below to prove to me what more I am missing?

851.6125
852.575
853.8875
854.3375
854.8875
856.3875
856.8625

Also is it possible to apply one of those filters at the frequency level only? I only see the ability to filter by the entire site. Unfortunately my experience has been that a filter applied to a site sometimes degrades other frequencies in the same site. This is with a SDS100. So unfortunate because the sound is awesome when picking up a good clean signal. I guess time will tell as the system evolves.

And sadly, the SDS100 much like the 536HP that I regrettably still have still is just as inferior compared to my ancient 796D when it comes to catching the ENTIRE conversation without missing the first couple seconds in a back and forth. Its ability to capture the active talkgroup on occasion is poor sometimes requiring more than several seconds of the radio being in ID SCANNING mode before the squelch is broken.

Looking forward to the South simulcast site to get more users on it for further testing.

Installed my SDS200's tonight...meh performance...SD 800 and RCS like Invert filter, 700MHz SD likes Wide Invert, and NextGen likes Wide Normal...if your looking for filter advice. The SDS's also seem to miss at least a second of all the transmissions, even when locked in the talkgroup.

You are missing 856.9125 in your frequency list.

I am aware that freq belongs in the system. I just haven't seen that one carry anything yet from my location. Have you?

Hmm, now that I look at Pro96com, there haven't been any hits on that freq.

From the unknowns posted in the above two posts....

Some notes if you convert the talkgroups from the old system.
P25 TG: 1035 = Old RCS TG: 16560 - Oceanside - Water Department
P25 TG: 1053 = Old RCS TG: 16848 - Oceanside - Street Sweeper
P25 TG: 1059 = Old RCS TG: 16944 - Oceanside - Parking Enforcement 1
P25 TG: 1792 = Old RCS TG: 28672 - Pala Indian Reservation Police?
P25 TG: 1924 = Old RCS TG: 30784 - Fire Training
P25 TG: 1933 = Old RCS TG: 30928 - LE Surveillance - Sheriff 20 Tac 3 - Encinitas
P25 TG: 1934 = Old RCS TG: 30944 - LE Surveillance - Sheriff 30 Tac 3 - Vista
P25 TG: 2056 = Old RCS TG: 32896 - UNKNOWN - 'Control 104','Control 105' - 'Alarm Call','Garage Door''Gate Arm'
Other unknowns that have been active and converted to P25 talkgroups might be on this list near the bottom of the first post on this other page.

I know they operate on RCS. Previous entry said they were on NEXTGEN.

It's all RCS. The Escondido agencies have been moved over to the NextGen infrastructure. Some talkgroups remain bridged with the legacy network infrastructure until all of Escondido (PD, Public Works) are cut over.

Question...I am receiving Northcom traffic on my TRX-1 on the West simulcast, but while comparing transmissions from the old RCS North site, I seem to missing some 4-C transmissions. It was with a Pala unit. Question is are the Northern Reservation units allowed on just the North Site and not West?

The configurations should be as before. That said, we have found some cases where the wrong permissions have been placed; as we find them we are correcting.

Also, if no user radio affiliated with the West Cell was listening to 4C, the transmission would not take place there.

Don, when you say the North Site (legacy coverage) was split into North and West to improve simulcast performance...does this mean that for subscribers (and scanners), better receive performance because the receivers are being hit with fewer transmitter towers at once on the same frequency?

Also, Harbor PD DIsp 1 is active on the NextGen 41.

Thanks Don

Interesting...same behavior continues on 4C. These are conversations between Northcom and Pala units that appear on RCS North Simulcast but not on NexGen West. I have to believe the Northcom console is affiliated with the West cell so I wonder if this is a permission issue?

Short answer, yes, for the subscribers. With the loss early next year of one prominent site on the coast in Carlsbad, we had to add sites to make up the coverage. We also improved coverage in parts of the northernmost areas of the County, which created problems in the middle of the North area (along 78). To solve those issues, the area was split in order to maintain / improve overall coverage in the North area. This is the much like the effort to create the East simulcast area a dozen years ago, which led to the NorthEast being added.

Don.

No, the consoles operate at the Core level, so site affiliation / permission is not an issue.
