There has been a number of posts recently from otherwise well-meaning members that recommend the wrong software for a given scanner. This is unfortunate, as it sends a newcomer in the wrong direction, and just adds to additional confusion, as well as extra cost.

Our wiki has several articles that summarize, by scanner distributor and type, all the known software (both programming and programming and control, if available) for most every scanner known. We don't have one yet for the Home Patrol series of scanners (Home Patrol, 436HP and 536HP) but one could be generated if needed. Note that these articles concentrate on software that handles more than one scanner - these are more common than ones that work with just one scanner. Be sure to look at that scanner's wiki page for such packages.

Some of these also have user guides that are also stored in our wiki.

It would be helpful if these articles were used to research available packages, rather than recommending the wrong package to a newcomer. Mike
