I recently found a repeater on 155.490. No voice was heard, but it definately was keyed up and it gave a PL tone of 118.8. I'm in OKC, so after looking at identified Oklahoma freqs by tone, I saw that Grady County uses 118.8 almost exclusively. I'm wondering if any of you guys know of a repeater on this freq or if you can identify this particular one. Kind of interesting...

118.8 Hz PL

Bad PL Tone to Use . Second Harmonic (almost) of 60 Hz. Never used but 1 time in 35 years in the business.

155.490MHz is used statewide as a simplex frequency, in spite of what many FCC licenses say. Assuming you are not hearing some sort of ducting from out of state, my best guess is that it is a link to a trunked radio system and not a repeater.

I heard the Oklahoma City system linked to 155.490MHz testing a few months ago. It was fairly strong downtown and had the "testing 1,2,3,4" recorded voice that we all heard during the testing of the OKC site.

Anyway, it's my guess that someone was messing with the VHF Mutual Aid link.

Doesn't explain the PL, though.

Many times you will get a false reading of 118.8 due to the problem bestradioman mentioned. Most likely it's actually CSQ.
