If Ballston Spa follows the pattern then their RIDs would read 714313-714318 but have seen PD and Constable units as 713XXX. Also if anyone has a question on a RID I have been scanning and recording and have a pretty decent list. Still myself have questions on some. Thankfully the only good thing about the Saratoga TRS is the fact that RIDs follow patterns compared to Albany or Colonie...

Ballston Spa PD is now being dispatched by the Sheriff Dispatch on the TRS, they do not have mobiles yet just portables, 5 that I have tracked.

BCD396XT Help

Hello all, I am looking for some suggestions before I pack up my new scanner and send it back. I have read all the post, followed many suggestions, but cannot find an answer to my problem. Any help is greatly appreciated. I have a new BCD396XT. I have programed it with the Saratoga P25 info using Scancat and Freescan. The scanner seems to program correctly with each. However I am only receiving minimal transmissions. I am using the Saratoga feed from Broadcastify as my reference. On the scanner I only receive a few Sheriff and EMS transmissions that sound like they are originating from a field radio, and no fire transmissions. I have all the talk groups programed and nothing is locked out. I have set the attenuation both on and off. Also, I am 7 miles from both the towers in Milton and Clifton Park, in Burnt Hills. At home I get 2-3 bars but I don't think the distance is an issue because I drove to within a mile of the Milton tower, the bars improved to 4-5 but there was no increase in the traffic.

Not sure what else to try and need to know if this is a lost cause. Thank you for any suggestions.

sounds like not getting good signal

check that you are getting 99%

I had the same issues, and I put up an outside Yagi antenna and that made a huge difference

Thanks for the suggestion. One quick question, during programming I did not input any APCO Band Plan data. I look on my scanner now and see two entries. Is this normal, or should I have more entries?

Saratoga County is very hit and miss with scanners, you either have to make sure you are in a sweet spot or mount an antenna to your house or vehicle.

Squelch set low? If not try that too, it makes a huge difference.

Now hearing Stillwater PD on the TRS, similar to Ballston Spa PD they only have portables at this present time.

I have a few antennas I am trying to sell

I have some big Yagi antennas that work well on the 800 band.

I bought more than I can use.

I would sell one to you for 25.00

They retail for around 100.00

They are used, but work just fine.
