External(?) speakers for P25 digital scanners are really no different from any other speaker. Normally for a communications speaker it's recommended to select a speaker that's tailored to voice frequencies from 85 to 155 Hz for a male, and for female from 165 to 255 Hz, or mare just go with something in the range of 85-255Hz.What is the best speaker for p25 scanner

You just can’t beat those old Motorola speakers. I found several in a time capsule (shelter with VERY old Motorola equipment long abandoned) from the late 50’s judging by the logo. They still sound great. My favourite scanner speakers are still Motorola (I know Kenwood has excellent speakers, too, but I've never used one) commercial radio speakers. I have several NOS Mocom 70 and Mitrek speakers that I repurposed for various scanners. Still going strong after 20 years in the house and garage!
I have a pair of Realistic "book end" speakers, Minimus 7, Catalog #: 40-2030C. I got them at a local hamfest for 10 bucks. These things are heavy weighing several pounds apiece. I have them hooked to my 996 scanners and they sound great. I have several other "book end" speakers that are labeled Realistic (Radio Shack), Sony, JVC and some homemade ones. None of them sound as good as the Minimus 7's do.What is the best speaker for p25 scanner
I use the Uniden BC20 speaker with an SDS200 at home. Big improvement over the built in speaker. Recommended if you don't need an amplified speaker. Pretty cheap on Amazon.I have this one mounted in my vehicle.
Plenty loud.
