Sounds like one of 3 things....

  • Bad (or improperly formatted) SD card
  • SD card not properly seated in SD card slot under the batteries
  • Bad USB cable
I doubt cable. Add broken sd reader/slot - this will require a trip to uniden repair

Thinking the same thing. Getting ready to box it up and send it away. Trouble is it’s just out of warranty.

I might add to this that this problem started after I was doing a update and we had a power outage for about 2 1/2 hours.

It doesn't run without batteries so it would have used it batteries during a power outage but your PC probably just quit.

There's never been any firmware upgrades for the HP-2 so it was a database upgrade, that happens only to the SD card. So when removing its SD card and you power on your scanner you get the exact same message of SD card error? So if the SD card can be programmed successfully from Sentinel in a card reader and the SD card are then seated properly then the SD card interface have somehow broken.

Found the problem!

The SD card will not "latch" properly in the slot!

Radio is boxed up and headed to Uniden
