There. I attached my screen as a TXT document. Download it and rename the extension to BMP and you should be good to go.

@Avguy1 Put the file (named "opening.bmp") under the "BCDx36HP" folder on the SD card. It doesn't appear for very long on boot up.

You can upload your own image?

Yes. You could probably even put your own ugly mug (i.e. your face) on it for identification purposes. Helps to prove that
it is yours if it ever gets stolen and you are trying to get it back.

Is that all there is to it; dropping an "opening.bmp" file into the SD card's "BCDx36HP" folder? I tried this and it doesn't work. I used one of the files uploaded by one of the members here.

That should do it. It has to be the correct size & bit depth, too. It doesn't appear for very long. Maybe 1 to 1.5 seconds on mine.

djeplett, I used the file you attached in post #21 above; I just changed the extension to .bmp. I'll have to do some tinkering to see if I can find out why it isn't working for me.

Are you able to load it in a graphics program such as paint? That will verify that you properly downloaded the file and correctly changed the extension.

(If someone is having trouble properly renaming the extension to BMP, right click on the file and use "Open with" to load it into paint and save it out as a proper BMP file.)

Does the length and width pixels size matter? Is BMP the correct format? Cause I still can't get it to work for me.

As pointed out in several posts in this thread, yes. It must be the same size, the same format, the exact same name and case, and located in the same location on the card as the original.

I got it figured out. I was using files uploaded by others here, but the trouble was that once I downloaded them, they weren't the correct size or format, even though I gave them the correct name. The incorrect images were showing a size of around 77 kb. The correct images will show as around 226 kb in size.
I used a freeware program called paint.net to fix them.
So:
240 x 320 pixels in size
.bmp format
24 bit depth
around 226kb finished size

Yep. That's what I was trying to suggest in post #30 to folks having trouble... Load it into a graphics program, fix it, and save it out.
